CSUB Rallies for Win Over Eagles

RENO, Nev. – CSU Bakersfield volleyball opened play at the Nevada Invitational with a 3–1 win over Eastern Washington (23-25, 25-21, 26-24, 26-24). The Roadrunners dropped the first set before bouncing back with three straight victories to secure the match.

After falling 25-23 in the opening frame, CSUB responded in the second with a 25-21 win to even the score. The third and fourth sets were both tightly contested, but the Roadrunners pulled away late in each, closing the match with a decisive 4–0 scoring run.

Several ‘Runners turned in standout performances:

Nicole Zake: 13 kills, 16 digs (double-double), 4 service aces

Evelyn Triviño Espinosa: 16 assists, 10 digs (double-double), 1 service ace

Nele Broszat: 11 blocks, tying a CSUB single-match record

As a team, Bakersfield outhit Eastern Washington .141 to .078 and matched the Eagles with 15 total blocks, proving to be the difference in the tightly contested match.

With the win, the Roadrunners continue their strong early-season form and will return to action in Reno against host Nevada.
