BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The 14th Annual ROWDYs was held in the Icardo Center on Thursday, May 8. The awards showcased the highest achievements of the Roadrunner student-athletes throughout the 2024-25 academic year. The following student-athletes were honored Thursday night for contributions made in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.

Golden Circle
The highest honor bestowed upon a CSUB undergraduate scholar-athlete serving in a leadership role. The award is reserved annually for scholar-athletes, spirit squad and band members who have shown integrity and achievement through leadership activities, community involvement, participation in campus life, sports participation and scholarship while attending CSUB. Through their involvement as scholar-athletes, it is clear to all who encounter them that they are set apart from other outstanding scholar-athletes and deserving of the unique honor.

Newcomer of the Year
Honors the first-year contributions of any freshman, redshirt freshman, or transfer scholar-athlete that has a standout year while producing results for their respective teams.

Clutch Performer of the Year
Given to the scholar-athlete who proved to come through in one or more clutch situations.

`Runner Spirit Award
Awarded to the member of the CSUB Spirit Squad (Cheer, Mascot, Dance, Pep Band) who demonstrates exceptional service to the CSUB spirit program and the CSUB community.

Athlete of the Year
These student-athletes represent the best of the Roadrunners, those who have accomplished the highest athletic achievements this year. These individuals have led their teams with consistent and impressive performances all season long and have earned the highest accolades and honors for their athletic success.

Play of the Year
A new award in 2025, the Play of the Year highlights wow-worthy moments in CSUB Athletics. These student-athletes and teams put their athleticism on display in feats that brought fans to their feet.

Best Individual Turnaround
Given to the scholar-athletes who transformed themselves and had a breakout season.

Best Individual Contest
Highlights a single, standout performance of a male and female scholar-athlete over the last year that left fans cheering and teammates talking.

All-Academic Team
The team member with the highest GPA from each team is named to our ROWDYs All-Academic Team. Note: First-year freshmen are not eligible.

Kegley-McCall Award
Honoring outstanding effort in the classroom, the Kegley-McCall award goes to the CSUB team that posted the highest cumulative GPA as a squad during the 2024-25 academic year.

Rudy Carvajal Community Service Award
Named in honor of CSUB's first-ever Director of Athletics Rudy Carvajal, this award recognizes the Roadrunner team that was the most present in the community over the past season. Their contributions included service both in Bakersfield and around the campus. The nominees all showed an outstanding commitment for bettering both the community and campus life at CSUB with major contributions during campus cleanups and other events.

Blue-Gold Award
Given to scholar-athletes identified by the CSUB Athletics Administration as both a quality student and fierce competitor. Their actions in competition and in life personify what it means to be a Roadrunner and compete in blue and gold.

President's Award
Given annually to the scholar-athletes who represent CSU Bakersfield in a positive light, both in competition and in the community. This award is one of the highlights of the ROWDYs and showcases the entire body of work of a senior scholar-athlete, who is graduating from CSUB.
