BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Cal State Bakersfield Athletics is inviting fans to bring their four-legged, canine companions to the ballpark for the first-ever Bark at the Park, scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 19. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Hardt Field with gates opening at noon. The special event will give Roadrunner fans the chance to enjoy an afternoon of baseball alongside their canine companions as CSUB Baseball takes on Hawai'i. Fans planning to bring their dog to Hardt Field are asked to RSVP by Apr. 10 to ensure their four-legged friend receives a special pet-themed giveaway upon arrival. The RSVP form can be found HERE.

To help make the day comfortable for pets, CSUB Athletics will provide a designated water station, a pet relief area, and pet waste bags around the field, just in case a little cleanup duty is needed. While dogs are admitted free of charge, a ticket is required for all owners. CSUB Athletics asks all attendees planning to bring a dog to review the participation guidelines below ahead of time to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Participation guidelines include:

• Dogs must have visible ID tags.
• Dogs must always remain on a leash.
• Leashes must be no longer than six feet and must be always held by a person.
• Pets may not be tied to stadium fixtures, fencing, or seating areas.
• Dogs must be at least six months old.
• One dog per adult (18 years of age or older).
• Pets may not be left unattended at any time, including in parked vehicles.
• Owners are responsible for maintaining control and care of their pets throughout the event.
• CSU Bakersfield reserves the right to refuse entry to any dog if necessary for the safety of guests and animals.
• Dogs attending should be flea and tick free.

CSUB also asks fans to use their best judgment when deciding whether their dog should attend. Dogs should not be brought to the event if they:

• Are under six months old.
• Have aggressive tendencies toward other dogs or people.
• Are a female dog in season.
• Are sensitive to loud noises commonly found in a ballpark setting.
• Are a senior dog that may have difficulty walking or being outside for an extended period.
• Are showing signs of illness near game day such as coughing, nasal discharge, lethargy, diarrhea, or other symptoms that may indicate a potentially infectious condition.
