Maalia Cherry put together one of the most exciting seasons by a Roadrunner freshman in program history, earning First Team and Freshman Team nods. Cherry batted .336 on the year, tied with Molina-Villarreal for the team lead. She hit a team- and conference-leading 13 home runs; the 13 roundtrips reset the Bakersfield single-season record and marks the most home runs in a single season by a Big West player since the 2022 season (Nawai Kaupe, Hawai'i).
Cherry also was the first Roadrunner to have a multi-home run game since 2015, and she accomplished the feat three times this season. Her stellar rookie year earned her Big West Weekly honors a handful of times, including Big West Player of the Week once and Big West Freshman of the Week three times. On top of that, she earned D1 Softball's National Freshman of the Week after her incredible performance in the Hawai'i Spring Fling Tournament where she hit .545, slugged 1.273, had 12 hits, 5 home runs, 15 RBI, and 28 total bases, helping CSUB go 5-1 over the weekend. One of the most threatening bats in the conference, one conference foe even began walking her in every at bat after she hit two home runs in a single game and walked it off in nine innings with a 6-5 victory. In that series, the opposing pitching staff walked Cherry 10 times in 12 plate appearances.
Outfielder Kaia Johnson picked up right where she left off last season, finishing the year with a batting average of .308 while driving in 13 runs and tallying 40 hits, eight going for extra bases. Johnson hit five doubles, a triple, and her first two career home runs. The speedy senior managed 15 walks, good for second on the team and proved to be a constant threat on the base paths, stealing 23 bags on 25 attempts; her 23 bags was the second best in the conference. She was the Roadrunners' best hitter in conference play leading the team in batting average (.367), hits (29), total bases (39), runs scored (16) and stolen bases (11).
A catcher converted to play outfield in her final season, Maya Molina-Villarreal earned her first Big West honors after having a career year for Bakersfield. Molina-Villarreal ranked third on the team in hits (36) with five doubles, two triples and three home runs while driving in 15 RBI. She had the second best batting average on the team during conference play, hitting .358 in 27 games played. From 2024 to 2025, she improved her batting average by 147 points from .189 to .336. Her batting average this year was tied for first on the team with Maalia Cherry.
