- The Cal State Bakersfield track and field program has a busy week ahead. Athletes will participate in three different meets from Wednesday to Saturday.
- The women's program had a historic indoor season, during which multiple school records were broken and various top-five marks were achieved.
- 14 athletes have broken into the CSUB all-time list for their events this season.
- Makiah Parker, Skye Odom, and Julie Johnson broke school records in their respective events.
- Bakersfield native Jacob Yagers has broken the 1,500m school record this season. The once 33 year old record is now Yager’s with a time of 3:44.40.
- Yagers has been named Big West Track Athlete of the Week this season.
- Freshman Makiah Parker ran a 200m in 24.12; it is the fastest time in 40 years for the event.
- Javier Toro had a successful season last year in which he qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries Meet. He currently ranks 20th in the NCAA West Region for the hammer throw and holds the third-best mark in program history.
Cal State LA Twilight Open – Wednesday-Thursday, Apr. 16-17
- This week’s competition will start with the hammer throws on Wednesday. The whole thrower’s squad will compete and look to continue their streak of big marks for CSUB.
- Freshman Skye Odom is set to compete in the triple and long jump. Odom ranks fifth all-time in the triple jump for the Roadrunners.
- Amiera Hollis will double in the women’s 100m and 200m.
- Transfer Ivy Miller will toe the line in the women’s 400mH, while Jaden Cutliff will take on the men’s 110mH and 400mH.
- Meshach Davis looks to double in the men’s 100m and 2000m races.
- Skyblue Gonzales will focus on the men’s 400m.
Bryan Clay Invitational – Friday, Apr. 18
- Jacob Yagers will be the lone `Runner representing the school at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
- Bryan Clay has become one of the biggest meets for distance runners in the nation, and Yagers will look to lower his 1,500m school record.
Mt. Sac Relays – Friday-Saturday, Apr. 18-19
- Bakersfield had a few athletes qualify for Mt. Sac Relays.
- The meet has become one of the most competitive meets in the world, with hundreds of collegiate athletes along with professionals competing against one another.
- Emilia Mandela will toe the line in the women’s 100mH.
- Freshman Makiah Parker will double in the women’s 100m and 200m races.
- Bakersfield native Julie Johnson is set to focus on the women’s 400m.
- Tom Richardson will be the only CSUB athlete to compete in a field event on Friday. Richardson will participate in the men’s shot put.
- Javier Toro will join Richardson in the men’s hammer throw.
