• Cherry is coming off her third Big West Freshman of the Week honors following her weekend versus UC Santa Barbara
• Senior Kaia Johnson had a busy weekend in centerfield and on the base paths, stealing three bases and recording 18 put outs while hitting .556 with and on-base percentage of .636.

  • UCR was in first place in the Big West coming into the weekend

• The Bakersfield baseball team is back on the road for an exciting weekend of conference play.
• With a .500 record in league play, Bakersfield sits in the middle of the Big West standings, looking to make a move in SoCal this weekend.
• Bakersfield native Evan Cloyd continues to shine at the plate, adding two more home runs to his impressive resume.
  • This past week, he moved into first place in both the nation and Big West for hit by pitch, while also tying for first in CSUB history.
• Nick Mascaro remains a dominant force at the plate, batting .385 overall and ranking in the top five in the Big West. He has reached base in 26 consecutive games, maintaining a perfect on-base streak for the season.

 CSUB at Cal State Fullerton 

• The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team will resume play this weekend with a Big West series against Cal State Fullerton, starting Friday night.
  • Mar. 28-30, Fullerton, Calif.
• This marks Bakersfield's first week without a midweek game this season, focusing on the league matchup.
• The Fullerton Titans are currently 10-13 overall and 4-5 in Big West play. They recently swept UC Riverside before dropping two out of three games against UC San Diego.
  • Bakersfield took two of three games from UCSD in early March.
• Last year, Bakersfield won the series against Fullerton, taking two of three games against the Titans.
• In the all-time series, Fullerton leads CSUB 8-5, and the Titans own a 5-4 edge on the `Runners since Bakersfield joined The Big West in 2021.

• The Roadrunners enter their last tournament of the regular season before they go to Las Vegas for the Big West Championship
• Last time out CSUB placed 7th in the SUU Pizza Hut Invitational
  • The `Runners beat out Wyoming, Southern Utah, Utah Valley, Eastern Washington, and Idaho State
  • The team finished just three strokes behind 6th place Utah Tech

CSUB @ Fresno State Classic

  • 36 holes Monday, 18 holes Tuesday
• The Roadrunners will be heading up the Valley to take on seven other teams in the regular season finale
  • This tournament will feature Weber State, UC Riverside, Hawai’i, CSUN, Portland State, Tarleton State, and Fresno State
• Bakersfield last played in the Fresno State Classic in the 2022-23 season
  • CSUB placed 14th of 15 teams, beating out Big West foe, CSUN by 10 strokes
• It has been almost a month since Bakersfield last competed; Sarah Mutai will look to pick up where she left off
  • Mutai placed 10th in the SUU Pizza Hut Invitational, staying consistently in the low 70s with her highest-scoring round being a 74 (+2) on the weekend

• The Cal State Bakersfield track and field team is traveling up the 99 for the second time this season.
• This weekend the Roadrunners will compete at the West Coast Relays hosted by Fresno State.
• The women's program is coming off a historic indoor season, during which multiple school records were broken and various top-five marks were achieved.
  • Makiah Parker, Skye Odom, and Julie Johnson broke school records in their respective events. 
• Last weekend, Bakersfield native Jacob Yagers broke the 33-year-old 1,500m school record with a time of 3:44.40. Yagers also placed first overall against tough competition.
• Freshman Makiah Parker is coming off an impressive 200m race where she also placed first. Parker’s time of 24.12 is the fastest time by a `Runner in 40 years for the event.
• Javier Toro had a successful season last year in which he qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries Meet. He currently ranks 14th in the NCAA West Region in the Hammer Throw, looking to make a repeat trip in 2025.

CSUB at West Coast Relays

• Fresno, Calif., Mar. 28-29
• The two-day meet will begin on Friday with field events, and the majority of the events will take place on Saturday.
• Javier Toro continues to improve in his events. He is set to take on both the shot put and hammer throw.
• Jacob Yagers moves down a distance to focus on speed. He will toe the line in the 800m this weekend.
• Makiah Parker is set to compete in her true event the 400m. This will be the first time this season that the freshman will tackle the one-lap race.
• Freshman Skye Odom will compete in the triple jump once again. She is coming off a CSUB #5 all-time performance in the event.
• Another freshman who has been competing well is Emilia Mandela who clocked in the #6 spot on the program’s all-time list in the 100m hurdles over the weekend. She looks to build off the momentum and continue the hurdle.
• Others to look out for – Ethan Lavina (triple jump and long jump), Tom Richardson (hammer throw and shot put), Jaztyn Greer (hurdles), Ivy Miller (hurdles), and Rain Gomez (1,500m)
