• The Cal State Bakersfield women’s soccer team (7-7-2, 4-3-1 BW) has hit its stride in the 2025 season, picking back up with momentum gained at the end of the previous campaign. 
• Bakersfield’s 2024 squad made a deep run into the postseason, reaching the Big West Championship match before ultimately falling in penalty kicks.  
• Under the guidance of first-year Head Coach Whitney Pitalo, the 2025 Roadrunner roster features 32 women: 18 returners and 14 newcomers.  
• So far this season, the `Runners have utilized a well-balanced offense, featuring eight different goalscorers:

• The Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team (4-16, 1-7 Big West) continues the 2025 season and will face two Big West foes this week. 
• The new-look Roadrunners are building team chemistry from the ground up as the CSUB roster features only one returner who was on the squad last Fall. 
• The `Runners are led by co-interim Head Coaches, Felipe Nogueira and Cinthia Angus, both of whom have previous head coaching experience. 
• CSUB’s fresh-faced roster welcomes back one returner, Druegan Davis, as well as 14 newcomers. Highlights of a few first-time `Runners: 
  • Nicole Zake (So.): Transferred to CSUB in December from Virginia Tech

• This rivalry dates back to 1984 with the Tritons having a narrow series lead of 18-15 but winning the previous 6 matchups. 
• Last year, CSUB and UC San Diego had two matches during the season. The Tritons earned wins in both matches, including a 3-1 battle in the Icardo Center.

• Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Eric Bugby, the Cal State Bakersfield men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host its final unofficial meet before the 2025-26 season begins. 
  • Bugby brings a wealth of experience, including recent championships, from his previous stop as the leader of the swim & dive squads at Niagara University. 
• Bakersfield’s swim & dive teams welcome back a strong core of veterans while adding a nice complement of newcomers to the mix. 
• Bugby and the `Runners have selected a set of veteran leaders to guide each of his squads as team captains:

• The Roadrunner women’s golf team sets out this week for one more tournament before closing off the Fall season.  
• Third-year Head Coach Katy Barrett Baxter welcomes back a strong group of veterans from her 2024-25 squad: 
  • Seniors Iris Han and Sarah Mutai return as Bakersfield’s Top 2 scorers from a year ago and are on pace to wrap up their careers on two of the best in program history. 
  • Sophomores Emilee Canepa, Anna Kehrer, and Kate Montemayor gained ample experience during the rookie campaigns while Ashlee Kresha is ready to go following a redshirt season.  
• The `Runners welcome two newcomers in freshman Fiona Clancy and Rena Kaneko. 
• On the heels of a record-setting 2024-25 season, the Roadrunners rolled that momentum into a great 2025-26 season thus far.  

CSUB at Clash at Boulder Creek (NAU Host)  

• The `Runners will get their final test of the fall season with a return trip to Boulder Creek: 
  • Oct. 27-28 
  • Shotgun start both days at 8 a.m. (PT) 
  • Boulder City, Nev. / Boulder Creek Golf Club 
• Monday will feature two rounds of competition, and the field will wrap up the tournament with a single round on Tuesday. 
• CSUB Head Coach Katy Barrett Baxter sends a good mixture of youth and experience as her scoring five: seniors Sarah Mutai and Iris Han, freshmen Rena Kaneko and Fiona Clancy, and sophomore Anna Kehrer. 
  • Baxter will also have one `Runner competing as an individual: Ashlee Kresha. 
• The field is very large as Bakersfield is one of 18 teams to compete in the tournament. 
  • Some familiar foes include CSUN, Fresno State, UC Riverside, and future Big West member Utah Valley.
