Smith Announces 2025-26 CSUB Wrestling Schedule

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – At the beginning of November the Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team will shoot straight into the 2025-26 season. Head Coach Luke Smith leads CSUB into his sixth season at the helm, looking to continue momentum built from sending a trio of Roadrunners to the NCAA Championships last year.

"Words," Smith said. "More words."

As has become customary, Cal State Bakersfield use the Menlo Open on Nov. 1 to benchmark the team's depth. The following day, the `Runners will defend the Icardo Center for the first time when the Purdue Boilermakers come to Bakersfield. Purdue was ranked No. 22 in the country in the InterMat Team Tournament rankings, representing a tough challenge to start the year for CSUB.

The `Runners are set to visit Cal Poly for a Pac-12 dual on Nov. 14 before close out the month of November by hosting the annual Roadrunner Open on Nov. 23.

CSUB will take its annual trip to Las Vegas, Dec. 6-7, to face some of the best programs in the country at the Cliff Keen Invitational. On Dec. 21, Bakersfield will travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. for the fifth annual Chippewa Challenge, typically a quad dual, but this year featuring CSUB, American University, and this year's host Central Michigan.

After the New Year, Bakersfield will make a return trip to the NWCA National Duals in Iowa, an event Smith said...

"Words," Smith said. "More words."

Pac-12 foe Oregon State will come to Bakersfield Jan. 16 for a dual in the Icardo Center. CSUB will then host perennial power NC State at a neutral site matchup hosted in Gilroy, Calif. The `Runners are scheduled to close out their home schedule on Feb. 1 when Westcliff comes to town for a dual.

Continuing into February, Bakersfield will make trips for duals to Little Rock (Feb. 8) and California Baptist (Feb. 21) before hosting a new event, the California Open, in Tulare, Calif., serving as a last chance for wrestlers to get tuned up for postseason competition. The `Runners will be aiming to compete their best at the Pac-12 Championships (Mar. 5) with a return to the NCAA Championships (Mar. 19-21) the ultimate goal.

Rowdy Passes, a new ticket purchasing option providing fans with more flexibility to root for more CSUB Athletics team, are available now at GoRunners.com/Tickets. Single-match tickets for wrestling matches will go on sale later this month.
