• Two Roadrunners are currently nationally ranked by FloWrestling: #3 AJ Ferrari (197), #30 Jake Andrews (HWT).
• Former NCAA Champion AJ Ferrari is ranked the #13 Pound-for-Pound wrestler in the country by FloWrestling. InterMat ranks Ferrari #1 at 197 while The Open Mat has him at #3.
• FloWrestling ranks Cal State Bakersfield #24 as a team while InterMat has the Roadrunners at #20.
• Bakersfield native Jake Andrews is now 10-2 on the season.
• CSUB has won Pac-12 Athlete of the Week three times this season: Jake Andrews (Nov. 26), Guillermo Escobedo (Dec. 17), and AJ Ferrari (Dec. 24).
• Bakersfield’s wrestling program had an active streak of sending at least one Roadrunner to the NCAA Championships for 50 consecutive seasons, snapped last year. A mix of ready returners and determined newcomers will help 6th-year Head Coach Luke Smith return the program to new prominence in the wrestling world.
• Smith recruited two standout veterans to help guide the way: 2021 NCAA Champion (197) AJ Ferrari and 3-time NCAA Qualifier (174/165) Gerrit Nijenhuis (Oklahoma/Purdue).

• The Cal State women’s basketball team returns home this Thursday before heading out on the road for back-to-back conference games. While Bakersfield has yet to secure a win this season, it’s still early in conference play.

UC Santa Barbara

• The Roadrunners have struggled against UC Santa Barbara in recent years, losing the last seven matchups.
• The Gauchos are one of the top teams in the conference this season, with an 8-5 overall record and a 2-1 mark in Big West play.

• UCSB boasts one of the best shooters in the league, Alyssa Marin, who leads the Big West with an average of 16.7 points per game.

• The Cal State Bakersfield swimming and diving teams are preparing for postseason competition with the CSUB divers heading to Riverside for a three-day meet.
• The Roadrunners boast seven Big West Athlete of the Week honors this season across four different student-athletes: Vili Sivec (4), Arthur Amaral Schneider, Lorena Jerebic, and Jessica Franco.
• Bakersfield recently sent two of its top `Runners to the U.S. Open, where junior Vili Sivec became the U.S. Open Champion in the 200 Butterfly.
• CSUB is in a new and exciting era as the `Runners are in their first season in The Big West with the first Big West Championships scheduled for Feb. 12-15 in Houston.
• Bakersfield is coming off a highly successful 2023-24 season which saw the `Runners win eight conference medals, with most of the team posting high-scoring best times.
• The `Runner rosters feature several experienced and determined veterans looking to lead the way, including Sivec, who is the reigning MPSF Swimmer of the Year.

• The three-day meet features one day of competition on each of the three diving elements: 1-meter springboard, 3-meter springboard, and platform
• Bakersfield's diving group is led by senior Dyson Modica, a five-time All-Conference honoree and the CSUB record holder on the 1-meter board

• The Cal State Bakersfield women's track and field program continues their indoor season as they travel to Arizona for the Axe 'Em Open. This will be the first opportunity for the `Runners this year to show off their training.
• Last month CSUB travelled to Nevada for the Silver State Invitational. 
• Bakersfield had 10 different all-time performances in program history. 
• Freshman Makiah Parker is now in the top five for three different events. 
• Rain Gomez continues to make her mark in program history after a successful Cross Country season. Gomez holds the #4 time in program history in the women's one mile. 

CSUB at Axe 'Em Open - Dec. 10

• Makiah Parker was the top performer in Reno last month for Bakersfield. She is now top five in the 60m, 200m, and 400m in CSUB history.
• Parker is set to compete in the 60m, 300m, and will be a part of the 4x400m relay. 
• Senior Julie Johnson was CSUB's top performer in the 200m and 400m in Bakersfield's first meet of the season. She will join Parker in all three events. 
• Micky McAlexander will compete in the 60mH, 600m, and both long and high jump. In her debut as a Roadrunner, she put up the #3 indoor shot put mark for CSUB. 
• Newcomers Alexis Pitts and Amiera Hollis will toe the line in the 60m and 300m.
• Skye Odom and Mackenzie Okonta will compete in the long and triple jump. 
• Distance runners Rain Gomez and Crystal Torrecillas will take on the 600m. 
• Both Ivy Miller and Jaztyn Greer are set to race in the 60mh and 300m. The duo will represent Bakersfield in the 4x400m.
