CSUB Athletics Announces New Strategic Direction: RISING

Cal State Bakersfield Director of Athletics Kyle Conder guides the Roadrunners to operate under an updated, goal-oriented plan.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – With a recommitment to foundational pillars and a new dedication to the future of the Roadrunners, the Cal State Bakersfield Athletics Department has recalibrated its philosophical focus and guiding compass. Under the leadership of Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Kyle Conder, who is in his third season at the helm of CSUB Athletics, Roadrunner student-athletes, coaches, and staff are RISING to a new strategic direction.

The `Runners have helped shape an updated and expanded ideology for CSUB Athletics, and Bakersfield's leader is now sharing that overarching vision and philosophy publicly.

"When I came to Bakersfield in Fall of 2022," Conder said, "I inherited an amazing staff who all cared deeply about fulfilling CSUB Athletics' Four Pillars for our student-athletes. I have observed the sincerity of our people and I have asked them to continue their great work while setting their eyes on our Vision and Core Values."

The CSUB Athletics Department has long stood on Four Pillars: Academic Excellence, an Outstanding Student-Athlete Experience, Competitive Success, and Community Engagement. Conder's challenge to his staff has been to strategically target the Four Pillars with a specific Vision and an internally-defined set of Core Values.
