KernBHRS Sponsors Free Tickets in Honor of Suicide Prevention Month

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – In honor of Suicide Prevention Month, Kern County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services (KernBHRS) will be providing free admission to the public as part of the Kickin' It with Behavioral Health event at the Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer game against UNLV on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m.

"Following last year's successful collaboration with CSUB soccer, we are thrilled to return and offer another exciting opportunity for our community, especially our youth, to experience a college-level sporting event," said KernBHRS Director Alison Burrowes. "This event provides a safe, family-focused environment where participants can be inspired by athletes who have often overcome significant challenges to achieve success in sports. Additionally, attendees will receive valuable information and resources on mental health and substance use. Given the positive feedback from the community last year, we are delighted to continue this event in 2024."

As part of the annual outreach campaign for Suicide Prevention Month, KernBHRS will look to provide an opportunity for the public to come together, support the community, and spread awareness about suicide prevention. To reserve your free tickets, go to GoRunners.com/KernBHRS.

"We are thrilled to partner with KernBHRS for the second annual Kickin' It With Behavioral Health night at a CSUB men's soccer match," said CSUB Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs Scott Frasnelly. "Our athletic department stands on four pillars, one of them being community engagement and having the opportunity to welcome the community to our campus as a platform for the important work that KernBHRS is doing represents this pillar. You just can't beat having fun for a good cause!"

Fans in attendance will receive a variety of free giveaways while supplies last. Throughout the evening, there will be messages about Suicide Prevention, and information about the services and programs provided by KernBHRS.
