CSUB 0, Hawai'i 1

• The `Runners battled in a very tight game in Hawai'i for the start of Big West play.
• After a great first half, the `Runners continued strong play, but eventually fell behind.
• The Bows' only point was from a penalty kick, which was called for a handball violation.

CSUB 2, UC Davis 1

• The `Runners won against a top Big West opponent on Sunday, the UC Davis Aggies, who came into the match with an 8-3-0 record.
• CSUB fell behind in the 22nd minute when UC Davis put up the first goal of the game.
• Six minutes later, Karen Flores scored an equalizer on an assist from Catalina Roggerone.
• In the 71st minute, Miah Thomas scored her first collegiate goal, which proved to be the gamewinner.
• Goalkeeper Hollee Hercik had a great performance with six saves and she is now tied for third place with 197 saves for the CSUB all-time.

• The Cal State Bakersfield men’s soccer team is off to a great start, earning five results in their first seven matches.
• The Roadrunners added to that tally Wednesday night with a 2-1 road win against Pacific.
• Over the team's last 14 road games, CSUB has an impressive record of 7-3-4.
• On Sept. 5, Bakersfield tallied its first win against a ranked opponent since 2018 with a 3-2 victory over Portland. The Pilots had previously boasted a 32-4-2 record on its home field since 2021 before the Roadrunners rolled into town.
• Connor Mautino earned Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 9 after putting up two goals against #18 Portland.
• CSUB partnered with Kern Behavioral Heath & Recovery Services for the second annual Kickin’ It with Behavioral Health night on Sept. 11, a FREE game that saw 1,867 fans rooting for the `Runners.
• CSUB will open Big West play at home this week against Sacramento State.

CSUB 2, Pacific 1

• The `Runners traveled to Stockton, Calif. to face the Tigers, who came into tonight’s match with a 2-1-1 record against Big West members so far this year.
• Cal State Bakersfield took an early lead with a 4th-minute penalty kick.
  • Senior Connor Mautino created the chance when he was taken down in the box, and the team captain buried the ball in the back of the night for his team-high third goal of the season.
• CSUB doubled its advantage in the 35th minute when Joey Velasquez squeaked a rebounded ball past three Tigers.
  • Velasquez netted his second goal in as many games on the play, which proved to be the game winner.
• With 12 minutes remaining in the second half, Pacific finally got on the scoreboard, making the score 2-1.
• The Tigers pressured the `Runners hard in the final minutes, but CSUB goalkeeper Zenden Hart came up clutch multiple times to preserve the victory.
  • Hart wrapped up the match with five saves, including four in the second half.

• The Cal State Bakersfield Volleyball team opened Big West play with a huge win before eventually splitting the weekend of action.
• Coming off a challenging road tournament the week before, Bakersfield was anxious to get league play started off strong.
• The Roadrunners swept defending Big West Champion UC Santa Barbara, earning CSUB its first win against the Gauchos since 2018.
• Senior Samia Bhakta was CSUB’s offensive leader, averaging 3.83 kills per set on an outstanding .629 hitting percentage.
• Paige Dugan (2.67 k/s) and Druegan Davis (2.40 k/s) both contributed on the offensive front as well.
• Looking ahead, Bakersfield will continue Big West play with road matches at Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine this weekend.

CSUB 3, UCSB 0

• Bakersfield bull rushed the Gauchos for a 25-17 victory in Set 1 behind five kills from Samia Bhakta and four from Paige Dugan.
• Bhakta continued cruising, recording her 12th kill of the match to seal the second set with a 25-22 victory for the `Runners.
• UCSB could not hold off Bakersfield’s hot night as the `Runners earned a three-set sweep with a 25-18 win in the final frame.
• Bhakta, a senior middle blocker, paced the `Runners with a career-high 16 kills on .696 hitting, the third-highest hitting percentage in CSUB’s Division I history in a  three-set match.
• Druegan Davis and Valentina Sarti Cipriani each added nine kills in Bakersfield’s win.
• The `Runner setting duo of Nene Hawkins (18 assists) and Ella Erteltova (17 assists) orchestrated the CSUB offense to perfection as Bakersfield wrapped up the night with a team hitting percentage of .333.

CSUB 0, Cal Poly 3

• Bakersfield played well in Set 1, but could not slow the Mustangs, who hit .414 in the opening frame on the way to a 25-21 victory.
• Despite another gritty performance from the `Runners, Cal Poly extended its lead on the match to 2-0 with a 25-22 win.
  • Paige Dugan is leading Bakersfield with 7 kills through the first two games.
• The `Runners pushed the Mustangs to the brink in the final set, tying the score at 22-22, but the Mustangs won the final three points to seal the sweep.
• Dugan led all `Runners with 10 kills while Sydney Dunning (8) and Samia Bhakta (7) were close behind.
• Nene Hawkins tallied 14 assists, seven digs, and three aces in an all-around effort.
• Bakersfield hit a solid .168 on the match, but the `Runners were unable to slow the hot offense of the Mustangs, who registered a .344 clip.
