CSUB 1, Saint Mary's 2

• The `Runners overcame a challenging first half with both teams heading to the break scoreless. 
• Cynthia Ramirez had a very close chance at scoring in the 51st minute as she attempted a shot but nearly missed by hitting the crossbar.
• Saint Mary's scored in the 80th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
• CSUB responded back with a late equalizer in the 83rd minute of the game from Cadence Walter's first collegiate goal with an assist from Paige Rodriguez.
• With so much late action in the last ten minutes of the game CSUB was unable to hold the tie against the Gaels. The Gaels scored seconds after an impressive goal by the `Runners.

CSUB 3, California 4

• Bakersfield put up a tough fight against the Golden Bears.
• Early in the game CSUB put in an early goal to take the lead, but Cal respond late to tie things up in the first half.
• In the second half, it was an all-out battle as the `Runners and Golden Bears both showcased a very offensive second half.
• Isis Salazar scored her first collegiate goal in the 20th minute of the game.
• Mya Clarke joined the club with Salazar, scoring her first collegiate goal in the 59th minute.
• Karen Flores scored a late goal in the 86th minute, but three second-half goals proved to be too much for Bakersfield to overcome on the road.

• Including an undefeated (2-0-1) exhibition slate, the Cal State Bakersfield men’s soccer team entered this week with a 3-0-2 record over their first five matches.
• Bakersfield ran into a strong California Baptist squad that has qualified for postseason play in each of the past two seasons.
• Over the team's last 11 road games, CSUB has a solid record of 5-3-3, earning eight results in the span.

CSUB 1, California Baptist 4

• The Roadrunners faced their toughest test of the season so far against the Lancers, who have made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances including a second-round run in 2023.
• CBU enjoyed the home field advantage, playing in front of a record crowd for its program (1,617).
• Bakersfield looked the better squad in the first half, outshooting CBU 15-6 in the opening period, including a 7-2 advantage on shots on goal, but the Lancers enjoyed a 1-0 lead at the break.
  • CBU scored in the 39th minute when Blake D’Agostino slipped past the `Runner defense and beat the CSUB keeper.
• The Lancers came out of halftime hot, scoring a pair of early goals in the second period to make the score 3-0.
• CSUB answered back with a goal in the 52nd minute when Rashaad Ogun’s shot in traffic glanced off a defender’s leg and found the back of the net.
• A penalty kick in the final 10 minutes sealed CBU’s 4-1 victory.
• Bakersfield outshot its host 22-12 on the match, but CBU made the most of its limited opportunities in the win.

• Cal State Bakersfield's volleyball team opened the 2024 season at the Utah Valley Invitational
• The Roadrunners' first tournament of the season featured competitive volleyball matches with several standout performances.
• CSUB began their weekend with a strong showing, securing a win against Kansas City.
• Samia Bhakta was a highlight of the tournament, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team for her exceptional play, recording a hitting percentage of .442 off 21 kills to go with seven blocks. 

CSUB 3, Kansas City 0

• CSUB kicked off the Utah Valley Invitational with a solid performance against former WAC foe Kansas City.
• The Roadrunners won the first set 25-20, with key plays from Samia Bhakta and Sydney Dunning.
• Despite Kansas City’s early lead in the second set, the `Runners fought back to secure a 25-14 victory.
• The third set was highly competitive, but Bakersfield managed to win 25-21, sealing the match 3-0. 
• Bhakta delivered eight kills (.438 H%), two aces and four digs while Dunning added 9 kills and 5 aces. Katerina Georgiadis also contributed with 2 service aces and 9 digs, supporting CSUB’s successful start to the weekend.

CSUB 0, Eastern Washington 3

• In their second match of the Invitational, the Roadrunners faced Eastern Washington.
• EWU won the first set 25-20, capitalizing on CSUB’s errors and effective play from Kalista Lukovich. 
• The Eagles continued their dominance in the second set with a 25-14 victory, driven by Lukovich.
• EWU clinched the match with a 25-21 win in the third set.
• Bakersfield’s notable performances included Sydney Dunning with 11 kills and Paige Dugan with 8 kills and 1 block.

CSUB 1, Utah Valley 3

• CSUB concluded the tournament with a match against Utah Valley, the host of the event and another former member of the WAC.
• CSUB got the best of UVU, 27-25, in the first set, with a great performance from Paige Dugan.  
• The second set saw UVU secure a 25-21 victory, with Bella Wooden’s 5 kills and Shewell’s 5 kills leading the charge.
• UVU continued their strong performance in the third set, winning 25-18.
• The final set ended 25-15 in favor of UVU.
• Bhakta finished the match with 8 kills (.412 H%), 3 blocks, and 1 service ace, while Dugan added 12 kills and 2 aces. Lucky Williams contributed 8 kills and 1 block.

• The Cal State Bakersfield’s cross country program began their 2024 season at the Waves Invitational hosted by Pepperdine. 
• The Roadrunners lost one of the most impactful student-athletes in program history to graduation in Helena Valentic. Head Coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth brought in Bakersfield native and transfer Rain Gomez to help fill the big shoes.

CSUB at Waves Invitational

• CSUB showed progress from last year’s results on the 4k course in Malubu. In 2023, the `Runners only had one athlete break 16:30. This year, Bakersfield enjoyed seeing everyone in their top-5 break 16:30. 
• The `Runners finished 7th overall, just 8 points behind conference foe CSUN. 
• Newcomer Rain Gomez led the way for CSUB with a 25th overall finish and a new school record time of 14:30 in the 4k. She broke the previous record by just one second, whichwas held by Helena Valentic.
• Two other `Runners posted great outings on the Alumni Park course.
  • Senior Neyda Martinez ran a personal best and #4 all-time on the CSUB chart with a time of 15:09.
  • Newcomer Crystal Torrecillas was close behind with the #5 time on the CSUB all-time list. Torrecillas crossed the finish line with a time of 15:20. The Bakersfield native took a two year hiatus from Cross Country but looks to be a great addition to the new squad. 
• Valerie Garcia and Alicia Muralles also land on the CSUB all-time list. Both athletes finished with personal bests. Garcia is now #6 all-time while Muralles is #9 on the list. 
• The women went against a total of six other teams - host Pepperdine, USC, LMU, Cal Poly, Long Beach State, and CSUN. The Mustangs won the meet with a total of 30 points. 
• Bakersfield will take a month off from any competition and will focus on training. They return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Master’s Invitational on the Central Park course.
