• The Roadrunners will need to draw on everything they have learned so far in their toughest test yet, a road match against a formidable California Baptist team.
• Included in a large group of returning `Runners is team captain and Bakersfield native Bryson Hankins, who earned First Team All-Big West last year.
• The stout `Runner defense ranked first in The Big West and 18th in NCAA Division I with a 0.824 Goals Against Average in 2023 and has allowed just one goal across two matches so far this season.

• CBU is coming off a second-round NCAA Tournament appearance after going 10-6-4 on the year.
• CSUB and CBU are tied 4-4-2 in the all-time series with the pair of ties coming in the two most recent meetings.

• The Cal State Bakersfield women's soccer season continues for their next set of games this week on the road, CSUB will play Saint Mary's and UC Berkley.
• Bakersfield look to even out their season record after a 2-1 win this last week at home when they took on Weber State.

• The Cal State Bakersfield women's volleyball team is excited to start the 2024 season after a thrilling intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday. With preseason preparations complete, the Roadrunners are ready to embark on their first set of competitive matches for the year. 
• The team will travel to Utah Valley for a two-day tournament that promises to be a challenging start to the season. CSUB will open the tournament with a match against Kansas City, followed by a game against Eastern Washington. The tournament will conclude with a final matchup against the host team, Utah Valley. 
• Bakersfield is looking forward to these early tests to gauge their performance and build momentum for the rest of the season.

Kansas City

• Friday, August 30th at 9:00 a.m.
• The season opener for both teams, Kansas City is coming off a strong 22-9 season in 2023, it will be a competitive match for Bakersfield.

Eastern Washington

• Friday, August 30th at 4:00 p.m.
• Eastern Washington will also start their season at the tournament. They have only played an exhibition against Central Washington, where they lost in a close 2-3 match.

Utah Valley

• Saturday, August 31th at 1:00 p.m.
• The Roadrunners will wrap up the tournament with a match against Utah Valley on Saturday.
• The Wolverines have only had an intrasquad scrimmage this year and finished the 2023 season with a 12-17 record.
• The Roadrunners, having previously been part of the WAC where they had opportunity to play against Utah Valley. Bakersfield will be looking to make a strong statement in this matchup.

• After a long season of training, the Cal State Bakersfield women's cross country team is ready to take on the 2024 season. 
• The Roadrunners will start the season off at the Waves Invitational hosted by Pepperdine University.
• CSUB will take part in the 4k course at Alumni Park on campus where it overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
• This will be the only time the program will race in the event all season. The group looks to take advantage of the shorter course and produce fast results. 
• For the first time in two years, Bakersfield will have a new number one runner. Former student-athlete Helena Valentic reset the 4k school record last year and was the immediate leader on the team.
• Newcomer and Bakersfield native, Rain Gomez has led the way in workouts thus far for the `Runners. Gomez returns to the city, previously at Fresno State. Director of Track and Field and Cross Country, Marcia Mansur-Wentworth said, “I am excited to see what [Rain Gomez] can do in her debut as a Roadrunner. I am sure she will impact the 4k depth chart for CSUB.” 
• Other athletes who will have an impact this Fall are Neyda Martinez, Valerie Garcia, Jayden Reyes Sarmiento, Alicia Murralles, and Crystal Torricellas. 
• All student-athletes are Bakersfield natives and attended high school locally.
