Shaunae Brown Earns Academic All-District Honors

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The Cal State Bakersfield Athletics Department congratulates Shaunae Brown, who earned Academic All-District® honors.

Representing the CSUB women's basketball team, Brown became an Academic All-District® honoree for her efforts in 2023-24. A redshirt junior from Toronto, Canada, Brown quickly became the leading offensive player for the `Runners. After taking a medical redshirt year for the 2022-23 season, Brown found her place on the Roadrunner basketball team this season. Leading the `Runners not only in scoring (423 points) for the season, Brown also reset the CSUB record for most 3-pointers made in a single season at 88, securing her name in Bakersfield's history books as well as being ranked number one in the Big West for the entire season.

Brown averaged 34.6 minutes a game, serving as an essential part of Bakersfield's lineup, starting in 96 percent of games throughout the season and playing in all of the `Runners' competitions. The guard received this honor for being an important starter and impactful player who also excelled academically. She is currently working on her Master's in Public Administration but Brown has plans to play professional basketball after graduating. Through her postgraduate studies she boasts a 3.90 cumulative GPA while completing her undergrad work with a 3.70 GPA.

Academic All-District and All-America

Nominated student-athletes must meet the minimum athletic requirements of being a starter or important reserve. In the classroom, candidates must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, one of the strictest academic requirements for awards consideration in collegiate athletics.

Academic All-District® honorees are eligible to appear on the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early April for the basketball programs.
