School Record, 4 All-Conference Highlight Dive Championships

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield men's and women's diving teams competed at the MPSF Diving Championships in Southern California this week. Led by junior Dyson Modica, the Roadrunners posted four All-Conference performances and one CSUB record while the Bakersfield men tallied big points toward the overall team score.

Modica earned fifth-place finishes in all three events, taking home three more All-Conference honors to add to his two from years past. On the final day of competition, Modica reset his own CSUB record in the Platform by 13 points with a score of 247.70.

Sophomore Anderson Laing got on the All-MPSF train with a Second Team performance on Monday in the 1-meter. Freshman Cody Morgan also represented CSUB well, placing Top 10 with his teammates all week long.

"The trio of Dyson, Cody and Anderson have the men going into the MPSF Swim Championships with 92 points. The men's field is tough this year and going into the meet with this number of points is a huge advantage. The men should be very proud of themselves."

Bakersfield's male divers tallied 41 points heading into the 2023 Championships, nearly doubling their advantage heading into the 2024 edition next week.

"The ladies saw Madi and Chloe diving at their last meet as `Runners! It's bittersweet to see these two finish their careers! They have been a huge part of our success over their time here and will be greatly missed. Lexie gained much needed experience in Mission Viejo! She will now have to become a leader of a very young women's dive team next season. I'm super proud of everyone!"

Chloe Brown led the `Runner women this week, placing Top 20 in two different events. Madi Gray and Lexie Chavez rounded out the Bakersfield divers to compete. Full results from the MPSF Diving Championships are available here.
