• Bold Week continues for Bakersfield on Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. tip-off against UC San Diego.
• The `Runners will look to build on their success from last season, having won the first of two matchups against the Tritons in the 2023-24 campaign.
• Historically, Bakersfield has the upper hand in this series, leading 13-9, and they’ll aim to extend their current winning streak over UC San Diego.

• The Cal State Bakersfield women's track and field program opens up its indoor season at the Silver State Invitational hosted by the University of Nevada. The Roadrunners are making history as one of the first schools to compete on the brand-new facility.
• CSUB will travel to Reno, Nevada for the two-day invitational starting on Dec. 6th and will go through the 7th. 
• It will be the first opportunity to see the 2024 recruiting class in action. 
• Newcomer Emilia Mandela was ranked in the world for the 60mH U20 last season and is looking to build off her outstanding year. 
• Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Marcia Mansur-Wentworth said “We have several Roadrunners making their debut in the blue and gold. I could not be more excited to start the season. This group has been training well and has such great attitudes, I know they are going to make a big impact this season.”

CSUB at Silver State Invitational - Dec. 6-7

• Newcomer McCartney McAlexander will be busy all weekend long as she is set to compete in the high jump, long jump, shot put, 60mH, and will be the 400m leg on the distance medley relay team. 
• Freshman Makiah Parker will also have a packed weekend ahead of her. Parker is scheduled to compete in the 400m, 200m, 60m, and will be part of the 4x400m relay team. She can compete in both the short and long sprints; it will be an exciting opportunity to see what she can do. 
• Other impactful newcomers in the sprints are Alexis Pitts and Amiera Holli. Both women will toe the line in the 60m and 200m.
• Skye Odom and Mackenzie Okonta are set to compete in the long jump and triple jump.
• Ivy Miller will join Big West finalist Jaztyn Greer, in the 60mH, 400m, and relay team. 
• Senior Julie Johnson will join her teammates in the 200m and 400m this weekend. She is scheduled to be a part of the 4x400m relay squad. 
• After a long Cross Country season, Neyda Martinez, Valerie Garcia, Crystal Torrecillas, and Rain Gomez are back in action but this time on the track. All athletes are looking to make on impactful for the squad. 

• The Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team will continue the 2024-25 season with another tough test, tackling the annual Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas.
• Four Roadrunners are currently nationally ranked by FloWrestling, the most for the program since 2019: #4 AJ Ferrari (197), #27 Jake Andrews (HWT).
• Former NCAA Champion AJ Ferrari is ranked the #13 Pound-for-Pound wrestler in the country by FloWrestling. InterMat ranks Ferrari #1 at 197 while The Open Mat has him at #3.
• FloWrestling ranks Cal State Bakersfield #24 as a team while InterMat has the Roadrunners at #22.
• Bakersfield native Jake Andrews has started the season a perfect 5-0 on the way to his first national ranking (#27). The `Runner heavyweight earned a ranked victory over Cal Poly's No. 28 Trevor Tinker to win the Roadrunner Open on Nov. 24.
• Bakersfield’s wrestling program had an active streak of sending at least one Roadrunner to the NCAA Championships for 50 consecutive seasons snapped last year. A mix of returners and newcomers will help 6th-year Head Coach Luke Smith return the program to prominence in the wrestling world.
• Smith recruited two standout veterans to help guide the way: 2021 NCAA Champion (197) AJ Ferrari and 3-time NCAA Qualifier (174/165) Gerrit Nijenhuis (Oklahoma/Purdue).
• Seven consistent starters returned from last season’s lineup, giving Bakersfield a battle-tested lineup: Richard Castro-Sandoval (125), Santino Sanchez (133), Brock Rogers (149), Devyn Flores-Che (157), Guillermo Escobedo (165), Braden Smelser (184), and Jake Andrews (HWT).

• The highlight of the 2023 Cliff Keen Invitational for Bakersfield was Richard Castro-Sandoval. After losing his first match of the tournament, CSUB's 125 pounder stayed alive with back-to-back sudden victory wins, including a big upset against No. 11 Kysen Terukina from Iowa State.

• The Cal State Bakersfield swimming and diving teams will continue their way across the 2024-25 season at the U.S. Open, challenging their times as an appetizer for the Big West Championships in the spring.

• CSUB is in a new and exciting era as the `Runners are in their first season in The Big West with the first Big West Championships scheduled for Feb. 12-15 in Houston.
• Bakersfield is coming off a highly successful 2023-24 season which saw the `Runners win eight conference medals, with most of the team posting high-scoring best times.
• The `Runner rosters feature several experienced and determined veterans looking to lead the way, including Sivec, who is the reigning MPSF Swimmer of the Year.

CSUB at U.S. Open

• The three-day meet will feature morning prelims (6 a.m. PT) and evening finals (3 p.m. PT)
• CSUB will travel to one of the fastest meets in the world, racing at a higher and more competitive level than seen this season, with some future Olympians, including past World Record Holder Drew Kibler being their competition while trying for gold
