• The Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team is gearing up for another exciting weekend on the road, as they take on two tough Big West opponents. With a record just shy of .500, the Roadrunners are looking to continue their upward momentum in the conference. 
• Currently, Bakersfield ranks first in the Big West for aces per set and 12th in the nation. 
• Senior Sydney Dunning leads the team with 0.44 aces per set, ranking her first in the conference and 48th nationally. 
• It promises to be an exciting weekend as Bakersfield faces off against Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara.

Cal Poly - Friday, November 8th at 6:00 PM

• Cal Poly enters the match with an 8-4 record in the Big West.
• Earlier this season, Bakersfield battled hard but fell 3-1 to the Mustangs.
• Since that meeting, Cal Poly has dropped to second in the Big West standings, but they remain a formidable opponent as the Roadrunners travel to San Luis Obispo.
• Bakersfield will also face former CSUB player Breklyn Pulling, now one of Cal Poly’s top contributors.

UC Santa Barbara - Saturday, November 9th at 7:00 PM

• In an earlier showdown this season, Bakersfield upset UC Santa Barbara, defeating the previous year’s Big West champions in a dominant 3-0 sweep to open conference play.
• This time, the Roadrunners will play on the Gauchos' home court, where UCSB has improved to 6-6 in league play, just ahead of Bakersfield in the conference standings.
• While Bakersfield holds a slightly better overall record, they’ll look to carry the momentum from their earlier win to grab another victory on the road.

#5 CSUB (7-10-4, 4-3-3 BW) at #1 Hawai'i (12-7-1, 8-1-1 BW)

• Honolulu, Hawai'i. / Waipi'o Soccer Stadium 
• The Rainbow Wahine enter the Big West Championship as the #1 seed and the host site, they have only lost one conference game on the regulat season.
• CSUB and Hawai'i will be meeting for the 8th time in the all-time series.
• The Roadrunners have only beaten the team twice in program history. 
• However, with their most recent win against UC Irvine in the first round of championships, Bakersfield has momentum on their side as they enter the semi-finals for the first time in CSUB history. 
• Back in September, the Rainbow Wahine held off the `Runners for a 1-0 win after scoring a penalty kick late in the game.

• The Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer team came up three minutes short of winning the Big West Regular Season title last weekend, falling down to the #5 seed in the league tournament this week.
• The Roadrunners will hit the road this week to make a bid for an NCAA Tournament appearance.
• Two-time Big West Offensive Player of the Week Connor Mautino became the first `Runner to tally double-digit goals in a single season in a decade (12, Julian Zamora, 2014) and ranks in 13th in the entire country in goals per game (0.73).
• The Big West announced the All-Conference teams on Tuesday and Cal State Bakersfield had seven `Runners receive All-Big West honors:

• The Aggies come into the Big West Championship hot, winning three straight matches to close out the regular season.
• CSUB and UC Davis will be meeting for the 29th time in the all-time series.
• The Aggies own a 14-11-3 advantage all-time and they have dominated most of the recent success in the series, winning 8 of the last 9 meetings against the `Runners.
• More recently, UC Davis has won all four matchups against CSUB since the `Runners began competing in the Big West in 2021.
• Just two weeks ago in Davis, the Aggies held off the `Runners for a 1-0 win after scoring the lone goal 2 minutes and 11 seconds into the match.

• Should CSUB defeat UC Davis, the `Runners would get a rematch with top-seeded Cal Poly

• Cal Poly edged CSUB for the Big West title with a game-winning goal in the 88th minute on Nov. 2.

• The Mustangs have dominated most of the success in the series, owning a 28-5-5 record over the `Runners.
• More recently, Cal Poly has a 3-0-1 record against CSUB since the `Runners began competing in the Big West in 2021.

MBB vs Bethesda - Thursday, Nov. 7 at 11:00am

• The Roadrunners begin their three-game home stand Thursday versus Bethesda after falling to Cal Monday night (86-73).
• Bakersfield will also welcome hundreds of elementary and middle school students for Education Day presented by Valley Strong. 
• Bakersfield saw immediate impact performances from newcomers like Jemel Jones and Shakir Odunewu
  • Jones scored 22 points and record five rebounds and four assists while Odunewu almost put together a double-double scoring nine points and grabbing ten rebounds
• The Roadrunners made nine three-point field goals, just two shy of eclipsing their 2023-24 season high.
• CSUB holds a 2-0 record versus Bethesda, last matching up in December of 2020

MBB vs NDSU - Monday, Nov. 11 at 6:30pm 

• Bakersfield welcomes North Dakota State on Monday night for what will be the first ever matchup between the two.
  • This will be the first matchup between the two this season as well, Bakersfield will travel to North Dakota in December to close out non-conference.
  • Bakersfield will have their Salute to Service game where they will honor all veteran's in attendance. Free admission to veteran's who provide their ID card at the box office. 
• The Bison come into this week 1-0 after defeating Jamestown 96-59 and will host Illinois State Thursday night prior to making the trip out west
  • In the opening game of the year, the Bison featured four double digit scorers, the highest being Jacari White (22 points)
  • NDSU knocked down 13 three-pointers and recorded 42 rebounds
• The Roadrunners were 10-4 at home last season and will look to keep the Icardo a tough place to win for opponents

CSUB (0-1) vs Colgate (1-0)

• The Cal State Bakersfield Women’s Basketball team will host Colgate in their home opener at the Icardo Center on Friday, Nov. 8th at 11:00 AM.
• This will be the first regular-season game in Bakersfield for first-year Head Coach Ari Wideman, who led the Roadrunners through their season opener against Grand Canyon University on Monday.
• The game will also be part of Education Day presented by Raising Cane's, with local elementary and middle school students filling the stands to cheer on the team.
• Colgate enters the matchup after a 74-62 victory over UMass and finished last season with a 20-14 overall record.
• This will be the first meeting between the two teams, and the Roadrunners will be looking to secure a win on their home court to kick off the season strong.

• The Cal State Bakersfield men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will continue the 2024-25 season with their first home duals of the season.
• The Roadrunners got their first taste of dual action last weekend on the road at Pacific.
• CSUB is in a new era as the `Runners are in their first season in The Big West with the first Big West Championships scheduled for Feb. 12-15 in Houston.
• Junior Vili Sivec earned Big West Athlete of the Week for his dominant swims on Opening Weekend.
• Bakersfield is coming off a highly-successful 2023-24 season which saw the `Runners win eight conference medals.
• The `Runner rosters feature several experienced veterans who will look to lead the way, including Sivec, who is the reigning MPSF Swimmer of the Year.

CSUB vs. Fresno State & Fresno Pacific

• Saturday, Nov. 9 / 12 p.m. (PT)
• The CSUB men will take on Fresno Pacific only as Fresno State does not sponsor a men’s program.
• The `Runner men have won three-straight dual meets against the Sunbirds, including victories by an average margin of 118 points in the last two clashes.
• On the women's side, CSUB has enjoyed dominant wins in its last two meetings with FPU, winning by an average margin of 105 points.
• Fresno State has won 7 of the last 8 duals against CSUB, but the `Runners have gone 1-1 in the last two.
• Two years ago in Bakersfield, CSUB downed the Bulldogs 166-122, but Fresno State responded with a 173-122 victory in its home pool.
