BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Kamy Anaya of the Cal State Bakersfield women's soccer team has been named the CSUB Athlete of the Week after a pair of outstanding performances.
The 5-10 junior goalkeeper from Long Beach had four saves to help preserve a 1-1 tie at Cal State Fullerton that clinched a spot for the Roadrunners in the Big West Conference tournament. She had eight saves, including several athletic stops in a 1-0 victory over UC Irvine in the opening round of the tournament.
CSUB will now face regular season conference champion Hawaii in the Big West semifinals. In 11 starts this season, Anaya has a 1.56 goals against average and has stopped 74-percent of the shots attempted.
Anaya transferred to CSUB from Mercer, where she was a two-time East Coast Conference goalkeeper of the year for the Mavericks. She was named the ECC tournament's most outsanding player and the conference's freshman of the year in 2022.
