• The Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team will wrap up their season on the road, starting with Long Beach State.
• Earlier this season, Bakersfield lost to the Beach 3-1 in a tough match at home.
• This will be a challenging matchup for Bakersfield, currently ranked 8th in the Big West, as they face a team tied for 4th.
• Long Beach State recently fell to Hawaii, ranked 1st in the Big West, but was on a four-game winning streak prior to that.

UC San Diego - Saturday, November 23 at 6:00 PM

• Bakersfield's final match of the season will be against UC San Diego. The teams met earlier this season at the Icardo Center, where UC San Diego won 3-1.
• The Tritons are currently on a two-game losing streak to Hawaii and Long Beach State but had previously won five straight.
• UC San Diego is tied for 4th place in the Big West along with Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara.

• The Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team will continue the 2024-25 season with its first home action of the year, hosting the 13th Annual Roadrunner Open.
• Four Roadrunners are currently nationally ranked by FloWrestling, the most for the program since 2019: #4 AJ Ferrari (197), #30 Gerrit Nijenhuis (174), #32 Jake Andrews (HWT), #33 Richard Castro-Sandoval (33).
• FloWrestling ranks Cal State Bakersfield #27 as a team while InterMat has the Roadrunners at #22.
• Bakersfield’s wrestling program had an active streak of sending at least one Roadrunner to the NCAA Championships for 50 consecutive seasons snapped last year. A mix of returners and newcomers will help 6th-year Head Coach Luke Smith return the program to prominence in the wrestling world.
• Smith recruited two standout veterans to help guide the way: 2021 NCAA Champion (197) AJ Ferrari and 3-time NCAA Qualifier (174/165) Gerrit Nijenhuis (Oklahoma/Purdue).
• Seven consistent starters returned from last season’s lineup, giving Bakersfield a battle-tested lineup: Richard Castro-Sandoval (125), Santino Sanchez (133), Brock Rogers (149), Devyn Flores-Che (157), Guillermo Escobedo (165), Braden Smelser (184), and Jake Andrews (HWT).
• Former NCAA Champion AJ Ferrari is ranked the #12 Pound-for-Pound wrestler in the country by FloWrestling, which also ranks him #4 in the 197 pound weightclass. InterMat ranked Ferrari #1 at 197.

CSUB hosts Roadrunner Open

• CSUB has hosted the Roadrunner Open for 13 consecutive years, not including the pandemic-altered 2020-21 season.
• At the 2023 edition of the RR Open, CSUB earned seven placers, including the heavyweight champion Jake Andrews.
• Coach Smith has recruited a much larger field for the Open this season with 11 different colleges already confirmed. NCAA Division I teams competing include CSUB, Oklahoma, Stanford, Cal Poly, California Baptist, and Oregon State.

• The Cal State Bakersfield men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will continue the 2024-25 season at the Utah Tech Invite, assessing their times as a tune-up for the Big West Championships in the spring.
• The Roadrunners have accumulated five Big West Athlete of the Week honors this season across four different student-athletes: Vili Sivec (2), Arthur Amaral Schneider, Lorena Jerebic, Jessica Franco.
• CSUB is in a new era as the `Runners are in their first season in The Big West with the first Big West Championships scheduled for Feb. 12-15 in Houston.
• Bakersfield is coming off a highly-successful 2023-24 season which saw the `Runners win eight conference medals.
• The `Runner rosters feature several experienced veterans who will look to lead the way, including Sivec, who is the reigning MPSF Swimmer of the Year.

CSUB at Utah Tech Invite

• St. George, Utah / UT HPC Pool
• The three-day meet will feature morning prelims (9 a.m. PT) and evening finals (4 p.m. PT)
• CSUB will tackle a large field with 12 total teams, including UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine, Fresno State, and Cal Poly.
• The `Runners will be rested, shaved, and suited up with the goal of posting their fastest times of the season.
• Two exceptions to this are juniors Vili Sivec and Arthur Amaral Schneider, who have their sights aimed at peaking at the US Open in December.
