• The Cal State Bakersfield Volleyball team continues Big West action for week two of conference play.
• Bakersfield will be on the road for a pair of matches. CSUB will face Cal State Fullerton on Friday, followed by the UC Irvine Anteaters on Saturday.
• The Roadrunners finished 1-1 on conference play last week, with a huge upset to open up Big West action as they swept the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos. 

Cal State Fullerton (4-8, 0-2 BW) - Friday, Oct. 4 at 6:00 PM

• The Titans will try and find a conference win at their home as they start the conference with a 0-2 record. Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside are the only two programs in the Big West who did not win at least 1 game in opening weekend. 
• Cal State Fullerton had tough competition as they lost 1-3 to UC Irvine at home and travelled to Hawai'i to lose 0-3.
• Historically, Bakersfield and Fullerton are all tied up with a 5-5 overall record against each other. 
• Last year, the Roadrunners took both wins against the Titans and look to continue their win streak. 

UC Irvine (8-5, 2-0 BW) - Saturday, Oct. 5 at 4:00 PM

• UC Irvine has had impressive season thus far as they are 8-5 overall with a overall pct. of .615. Their loss includes big names in Tulane, Idaho State, Colorado, Cal, and GCU. 
• The Anteaters started conference action with victories of Cal State Fullerton and Hawai'i. They are one of three schools who went undefeated in week one of conference play. Other two programs were Cal Poly and Long Beach State. 
• UCI is on a 3-game win streak and will be a challenging opponent against CSUB. 
• The `Runners will have an uphill battle against the `Eaters as they haven't won against them since 2021.

• The Cal State Bakersfield men’s soccer team is off to a great start, earning five results in their first seven matches.
• The Roadrunners added to that tally Wednesday night with a 2-1 road win against Pacific.
• Over the team's last 14 road games, CSUB has an impressive record of 7-3-4.
• On Sept. 5, Bakersfield tallied its first win against a ranked opponent since 2018 with a 3-2 victory over Portland. The Pilots had previously boasted a 32-4-2 record on its home field since 2021 before the Roadrunners rolled into town.
• Connor Mautino earned Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 9 after putting up two goals against #18 Portland.
• CSUB partnered with Kern Behavioral Health & Recovery Services for the second annual Kickin’ It with Behavioral Health night on Sept. 11, a FREE game that saw 1,867 fans rooting for the `Runners.
• Bakersfield kicks off Big West play this week at home on Wednesday and on the road on Saturday.

• Sacramento State is an affiliate member of the Big West for the sport of men’s soccer.
• Over the all-time series, CSUB holds an 11-7-4 advantage over Sacramento State.
• The two teams have met in each of the last three seasons, sharing a 1-1-1 record across those meetings.
• Last year in NorCal, the `Runners shook off an early goal by the Hornets, scoring the equalizer midway through the first half on the way to the draw.

• Cal State Fullerton won the Big West regular season title in 2023 thanks to a 6-2-1- league record.
• CSUB leads Cal State Fullerton 6-2-1 in the all-time series, but the revitalized Titans have won each of the last two clashes with the `Runners.
• Bakersfield’s last win against Cal State Fullerton came in 2021, CSUB’s first season in the Big West.
• Last year in Bakersfield, the Titans sprinted out to a 2-0 lead at halftime. A second-half CSUB goal helped the comeback effort, but Fullerton held on for the win.

• The Cal State Bakersfield Cross Country program is ready to toe the line for the first time since their season opener back in August. 
• Newcomer Rain Gomez led the way for CSUB with a 25th overall finish and a new school record time of 14:30 at the Waves Invitational. She broke the previous record by just one second, which was held by Helena Valentic.
• A Bakersfield native, Gomez has automatically put herself in position to be the #1 runner for CSUB throughout the season and has produced excellent workouts leading up to this weeks race. 

CSUB at Master's Invitational - Saturday, Oct. 5 at 8:45 AM

• The team is ready to travel down South for a morning race hosted by Master's Invitational.
• It will be the first time this season that the `Runners will compete in a 6k race.
• Bakersfield is back at the Central Park course for the second straight year. Last year, the team finished 14th out of 16.
• This year, the 2-5 `Runners looked to have closed the gap and will be a pivotal part to the success for the team moving forward. The 6k distance will be a test for Bakersfield but will prepare them for later in the season.
