• Three `Runners scored in double digits
  • Dalph Panopio set a new career high in points (23) while shooting 9-13 from the field
  • Kaleb Higgins remained in double-digits, scoring 13
  • Corey Stephenson also reset his career high in points (15) as he found success driving the lane and earning points at the line, shooting 7-10 from the free throw line
• Bakersfield shot much better in the second half at a 50% clip.
  • The Roadrunner defensive pressure held the Rainbow Warriors to 44% while forcing 9 turnovers in the second half
• The Roadrunners went on a 12-0 run in the second half to cut down the Hawai’i lead to 11
• Despite the Panopio and Stephenson offensive outbursts, Bakersfield fell short in the late bid comeback

• The Roadrunners have racked up three MPSF Swimmer of the Week honors this season: two for Vili Sivec and one for Kylie Ney.
• Bakersfield’s swim and dive team is in its last season as a member of the MPSF. The `Runners will join the rest of the Athletics Department in The Big West next season as the conference announced it would be adding Swimming and Diving as a sponsored sport in 2024-25.
• Sophomore Vili Sivec continues to rack up an impressive resume as the Croatian’s quest to become an Olympian looks more and more likely each week.
• At the Big Al Invitational in December, Sivec and Co. rewrote the CSUB record books. In total, six men and eight women tallied marks in CSUB’s Top 5 all-time lists.

CSUB vs. Cal Poly

• The `Runner women cruised to a dominant victory over Cal Poly, 196-103.
  • Multiple victories from Kylie Ney, Chelaine Van der Westhuizen, and Lorena Jerebic catalyzed Bakersfield’s win.
• On the men’s side, the Mustangs edged the `Runners, 153-147, in a narrow win.
  • Yigit Saglam, Vili Sivec, and Jacob Folsom paced CSUB, picking up key victories in the tight race.

CSUB 43, Hawai’i 67 – Thursday, Jan. 7

• Cal State Bakersfield's women’s basketball team headed off to Honolulu to continue the start of Big West play.
• The ‘Runners had a rough first quarter, only scoring five points to the Rainbow Wahine's 21 points, but started to make a comeback in the second half, scoring 29.
• Shaunae Brown led the team in points with 13, shooting 100% from the free throw line. The team was primarily assisted on the defensive side of the ball by Nseije Ortiz who had seven steals to try and shake things up.
• Sophia Tougas, the redshirt sophomore, was 3-3 in field goals while scoring seven points in 16 minutes played. Sophomore Julia Riley continues to make an impact with the ‘Runners, having six rebounds.
• Although they fought in the second half, the `Runners still fell short, losing the game 43-67.

CSUB 0, Arizona State 43 – Sunday, Jan. 7

• Cal State Bakersfield's men's wrestling team went head-to-head with Arizona State's team over the weekend.
• Facing fierce competition, the Roadrunners fell short of score any points against the Sun Devils. 
• Bakersfield competed hard against Arizona State, but their efforts were no match against the number five ranked team. 
• Moving forward, the ‘Runners will host and compete in the Chippewa Challenge this upcoming weekend.
