Big West Announces 2024 Softball Slate

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Big West is geared up to announce the 2024 Softball slate, and the Roadrunners are ready to begin a new chapter in the program's history, chasing their first Big West crown in the process. Newly hired Head Coach Letty Olivarez, via San Jose State, will guide CSUB from the helm as the `Runners look to right the ship and put together a successful 2024 campaign. Olivarez is just the fifth head coach in CSUB Softball's nearly forty-year history, entering the valley with a stellar track record, helping the San Jose State Spartans to back-to-back thirty win seasons in her first two years with the program. She will aim to emulate that success with a Bakersfield squad striving for stability.

Bakersfield's fourth Big West season kicks off with a road series at UC San Diego starting Mar. 16, before immediately facing a major test. CSUB hosts last season's 2nd-place Cal State Fullerton on Mar. 23, following that up with another road test against 2023 fourth-place UC Davis for the final weekend of the month.

To open April, the `Runners continue with the away matchups, traveling to UC Santa Barbara on Apr. 6. Another brief reprieve comes with a home series against Cal Poly, but CSUB is right back on the road again, this time making their furthest conference travel arrangements by far with a plane flight across the pacific to Hawai'i on Apr. 19.

The final three series for CSUB feature two home affairs, beginning with CSUN to round out the final weekend of April and UC Riverside to wrap up the season with a road series at the conference champions Long Beach State thrown in between.

A full 2024 schedule, including all of CSUB's non-conference matchups, and season ticket information will be announced at a future date.
