BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield softball team welcomed Long Beach State for the final home series of the 2023 season, and today featured two close games. Game 1 was decided by a ball just hit over Savanna Montoya's head, and Game 2 was decided on some fielding miscues by the Roadrunners.

LBSU 1, CSUB 0

• Brianna Sanchez and Kirsten Martinez both pitched well in Game 1 holding the Beach to only one run on seven hits.
  • Sanchez went two innings, allowing only one runner via a hit by pitch.
  • Martinez went five innings, allowing seven hits and only one run.
• The Roadrunner defense was stellar in Game 1 as they made great plays all around
  • Including Kaia Johnson throwing a runner out at home plate and Natalya Rodriguez preventing a stolen base to end the inning.
• LBSU snuck out with a victory after shooting a ball over the center fielder's head.

• Game 2 had a similar start to Game 1, pitching was at the forefront for both teams.
• Long Beach struck for two in the third inning on a pair of groundouts.
• They would eventually tack on three more runs in this game, one coming off a solo home run.
• Bakersfield was unable to get the bats going only getting one hit till the seventh inning.
• In the seventh, the Roadrunners began to show some life, getting two runners on, but did not cash in.
