Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hunter's Spark Not Enough in Road Loss at LBSU

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield men's basketball team could not overcome a slow start and sloppy play in the first half of Thursday night's road game. The Roadrunners used a late surge, sparked by freshman Cedquavious Hunter's sharpshooting, to pressure their hosts, but CSUB ultimately fell in the Big West contest, 77-61.

Notables
  • Hunter came into the game averaging 2.8 points a contest, but took advantage of his time in the game on Thursday. The native of Como, Miss. posted a team-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 5-of-8 from behind the arc.
  • The second-half rally came up short as Bakersfield's 18-point halftime deficit and 24-point largest disadvantage proved to be too much to undo.
  • CSUB matched LBSU in shooting from the field, but the free throw disparity proved to be the difference. The `Runners made 5-of-10 from the charity stripe while the Beach converted 30-of-43 attempts.
  • After coughing up 13 turnovers in the first period, the `Runners cleaned up their act, committing just three turnovers in the final 20 minutes.
