BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After a career-high weekend, Shaunae Brown captured her first Big West Player of the Week honors and Bakersfield's first POTW since Lexus Green was tabbed back in 2020. Brown lit up the Long Island Tournament hosts, LIU, for 28 points on a 10-of-15 day from the field as she improved her 3FG shooting percentage to .421 while shooting 5-of-8 from beyond the arc last Friday.
Brown now leads the team in points-per-game, averaging 12.8. She is also currently on-pace to set new CSUB Division I single-season marks for both three-pointers made and three-point percentage. A vocal on-and-off the court leader of the squad, Brown has recently battled back from a devastating season-ending injury in 2022 where she played just three games before being forced to the sidelines as Bakersfield went on a near-Cinderella run in the Big West Championships. Since returning to the court, Brown looked like she never stepped off in the first place and has been providing the offensive spark that the `Runners lacked last season.
Bakersfield continues its four-game road stint against Omaha this afternoon before traveling to Boise State next week as Big West play nears in late December.
