Meet the `Runners 2023-24: Freshmen

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Just a few more weeks remain for the Cal State Bakersfield Men's Basketball team till the first tip-off the 2023-24 season. The Roadrunners will host Southern Utah University on Monday, November 6; but before then let's meet the two Redshirt Freshmen for the `Runners.

Over the next coming weeks leading up to Southern Utah, we will be breaking down the roster by class.

`Runner Redshirt Freshmen

-#13 Kareem Watson (Returner)

6-foot-8 guard
From Philadelphia, PA went to West Catholic High School
Played 3 minutes in Exhibition versus Antelope Valley, tallying one point and one rebound
Redshirted in his first year with the Roadrunners
Dressed out in two games in the 22-23 season as an emergency backup due to team injuries
Coach Barnes on Kareem: "Kareem works extremely hard; he plays a full position but can also play on the wing and can really shoot the ball from 15 feet. He is really competitive on the defensive end, and we think he can be a really good rebounder in time."

-#25 Jaden Alexander (Newcomer)

6-foot-4 combo guard
From Fairfield, Calif.
Transfer from New Mexico State
Earned High School All-League, First Team All-League, and named Vallejo Times-Herald Player of the Year in 2020
Coach Barnes on Jaden: "Jaden is a great fit to our program, he's a hard worker and has been really easy to coach… we expect him to impact our program immediately on and off the court."
