Brown Extends Win Streak, `Runners Lose to Beavers

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Competing without three regular starters, including having to forfeit one weight class, the Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team started off on the wrong foot in Sunday's Pac-12 dual against No. 26 Oregon State. The Roadrunners enjoyed a big win to start the day from Josh Brown, but the Beavers swept the following nine bouts on the way to a 43-4 victory.

Notables
  • Brown (149) has now won five-straight duals dating back to his win at Air Force and the redshirt senior is now 15-9 on the season. Brown has outscored his opponents 57-28 in that span, collecting four decisions before Sunday's major decision.
  • Albert Urias pushed No. 20/24 Aaron Olmos to the brink in the 174-pound bout. A take down in the last second of the match gave Olmos a narrow, 3-1 decision.
  • At 125 pounds, Eddie Flores nearly pulled off a massive upset of No. 11/13 Brandon Kaylor. Flores overcame a 3-0 deficit, making the score 3-2, and was on the offensive in the final seconds of the match. Flores and Kaylor got twisted up into a pretzel as time expired with the ranked Beaver hanging on for the narrow decision.
