Brown Goes 3-0 at Chippewa Challenge

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Four wrestling head coaches, who all stem from the Central Michigan coaching tree, brought their teams together for the second-annual Chippewa Challenge on Sunday. Cal State Bakersfield went 1-2 on the day, with Josh Brown's undefeated performance headlining a solid showing for the Roadrunners.

Notables
  • All four head coaches in the competition wrestled under CMU Head Coach Tom Borelli.
  • Bakersfield defeated Central Michigan, the alma mater of CSUB Head Coach Luke Smith.
  • Josh Brown (149) went 3-0 on the day, winning a trio of decisions for Bakersfield.
  • No. 18 Chance Rich (133) went 2-1, dropping only a sudden victory decision against Campbell's No. 29 Domenic Zaccone.
  • Jacob Hansen (184) also posted a 2-1 record, earning his second pin of the season along the way.
  • Albert Urias went 2-1 at 174 pounds, including a dominant, tech fall victory in CSUB's match against Campbell.
  • Eddie Flores (125) picked up an upset victory against No. 32 Maximilian Leete (AU), a thrilling, 7-5 win in sudden victory.
