'Runners Wrap Season Opening Road Trip With Loss in Montana

Missoula, Mont. – Delaney Lou Schorr scored a pair of goals, one in each half, to lead host Montana past visiting California State University, Bakersfield, Sunday afternoon at the South Campus Stadium. The Grizzlies improved to 1-2-2 on the season, while the Roadrunners dropped their fourth straight to fall to 1-4-0.
 
Hollee Hercik and Flavia Burrell split time in the CSUB goal, with Hercik drawing the start and making one save. Burrell made three second half stops.
 
Alena Nigito, Dome Rodriguez, Jette Zimmer and Regielly Halldorsdottir each registered shot attempts for the 'Runners, who were attempted 20-4 for the match.
 
First Half…
* The host Grizzlies grabbed the game's first goal in the 33rd minute when Delaney Lou Schorr slotted a long shot into the lower right corner.  Kayla Rendon Bushmaker assisted on the play.
* Montana outshot Bakersfield 11-2 in the first half and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
* Goalkeeper Hollee Hercik made one save on two Grizzly shots on goal in the first period.
 
Second Half…
* Montana's Eliza Bentler doubled the Grizzly lead in the 70th minute off an assist from Daddie Ditta.
* Delaney Lou Schorr picked up her second goal of the game in the 87th minute of a pass from McKenzie Kilpatrick.
* Flavia Burrell entered the game in the CSUB goal for the second half, turning aside two of the three shots on goal she faced.
* Montana outshot CSUB 9-2 in the second, and held a 3-2 corner advantage.
 
Notable…
* Bakersfield lost its fourth-straight game after opening the season with a 2-1 win over UNLV at the New Mexico Lobo Invitational. All five of CSUB's games to date have come on the road.
* The Roadrunners will make their home debut this week when they host Northern Arizona and Boise State.
* Montana's Delaney Lou Schorr scored twice for the second consecutive game.
* Montana was cautioned twice in the second half, while CSUB's Jette Zimmer was also shown a yellow card late in this game.
 
Up Next…
The Roadrunners will make their long awaited, regular-season home debut next Friday, Sept. 9 at the Main Soccer Field, welcoming Northern Arizona to Bakersfield for a non-conference match up. The contest marks the first of four-consecutive home games for CSUB, who will also face Boise State, CSUN and Sacramento State on their home stand.
