Han Ties School Record as CSUB Shoots Low

SPOKANE, Wash. – Continuing on the strong start established at last week's season-opening tournament, the Cal State Bakersfield women's golf team posted another successful round to kick off the Eagle Invitational on Monday. Led by freshman and Bakersfield native Iris Han's school record round, the Roadrunners posted the third-best team score in program history.

  • After Round 1, Han is tied at the top of the individual leaderboard out of 59 student-athletes.
  • As a team, CSUB tallied 298 strokes (+10), the third-best single-round score in program history and the best since 2018.

Quotes from Head Coach Tiffanie Yabut
  • "This was a special day for our program. We have been chasing a score below 300 and this team earned it today. Everyone committed to our game play of putting ourselves in good position off the tee and in going into greens and they executed well."
  • "This was a team effort from top to bottom and I'm proud of the fight they had from start to finish. We left some shots out there, so this is only the beginning of a special year."
  • "Iris was a steady competitor all day and kept putting herself in good position to score well. This team is ready to continue this momentum into tomorrow!"
Round 1
  • Han's 70 is in a three-way tie with student-athletes from Montana State and Weber State.
  • Junior Arlene Salvador tallied four birdies on the way to a 73 (+1) for the Roadrunners.
  • Sarah Mutai (77) and Jefi Dordevic (78) round out the CSUB Scoring Four.
  • Gillian Galicia posted an 81 to start the tournament well.
