ROADRUNNER QUICK STRIKES...
* Three Roadrunners boast more than 30 career games played - Carlos Armendariz (40), Harry Downing (37) and Stephon Marcano (33) will lead CSUB from critical positions on the field. Bryson Hankins - a 2021 Big West All-Freshman choice - gives Bakersfield a fourth returning starter...

* Goalkeeper and Juventus Youth Academy product Filippo Dadone started the first two games in the Bakersfield goal, registering both decisions on CSUB's opening road swing. Dadone made eight saves in a loss at San Jose State, the most by a 'Runner since Detre Bell in 2019 (WAC QF, SJSU)...

* Andres Perez De Gracia and Jacob Fitzgerald each scored their first collegiate goal in a 4-2 defeat at Pacific. Perez De Gracia was making just his second appearances and first career start as a Roadrunner, while Fitzgerald was appearing in the 17th game of his Bakersfield career...

* GCU assistant James Garces returns to CSUB for the first time as an opponent this weekend. Garces was a four-year letterwinner for the 'Runners and served as an assistant coach with the Bakersfield program for the past seven seasons...

* Five different Roadrunners have capped internationally at the youth or senior level. Damian Alguera (USA & El Salvador), Stephon Marcano (Trinidad & Tobago), Scott Pengelly (Northern Ireland), all boast international caps, while Carlos Armendariz and Adrian Medina have each represented the United States at the Senior National Level in Futsal. Marcano dressed for a pair of T&T Senior Team friendlies this past summer, at both Bolivia and Belize...

* Ten Roadrunners prepped for the college game by representing and competing with professional youth academies - including Damian Alguera (Philadelphia Union, Sporting KC, SJ Earthquakes), Filippo Dadone (Juventus Academy), Harry Downing (Plymouth Argyle FC), Kevin Estrada (San Francisco Glens), Bryson Hankins (Seattle Sounders FC), Sucre Herrera (Sacramento Republic FC), Nathan Jimenez (Sacramento Republic FC), Adrian Medina (San Francisco Glens), Scott Pengelly (Fleetwood Town FC) and Andres Perez De Gracia (Crystal Palace FC & Derby County FC)...

* Senior captain and central midfielder Carlos Armendariz was 4-for-5 from the penalty spot in 2021, the most penalty kick goals and attempts in a Division I season for any Roadrunner. Armendariz has eight career goals, six on penalty kicks. He is the team's top returning scorer from a season ago, and the top all-time scorer on the active roster with eight goals and an assist for 17 career points...

* Bakersfield opens the 2022 season with five-straight non-conference rematches from the 2021 campaign. The 'Runners fell to San Jose State and Pacific during a season opening road trip, and now return home to the friendly confines of The Main Soccer Field to face Grand Canyon and Gonzaga. CSUB fell 2-1 on the road at #22 GCU a year ago, but rebounded to beat the Zags in Spokane, 2-1. Bakersfield will also travel to Cal Baptist as a return trip for last season's game at CSUB, a 1-1 Tie...

* Carlos Armendariz has played the full 90 minutes in each of CSUB's contests to date, the 27th and 28th times in his career he's gone the distance. Only Harry Downing has played more full games among the current Bakersfield roster, doing so on 33 separate occasions. Downing sat the final 12 minutes at Pacific, more than he missed all of last season when he missed just nine minutes...
