CSUB Swim & Dive Turns the Page to 2022-23

Bakersfield, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield Director of Swimming Chris Hansen has announced the Swim & Dive schedules for the 2022-23 men's and women's seasons. The Roadrunners will compete in four invitationals and eight dual meets during the upcoming regular season, including four head-to-head meets scheduled against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rivals.

"For the first time we will be competing primarily against schools in our conference; That's not something we were able to do in the WAC" Hansen explained. "We're also excited about making the trip to a premier invitational at Princeton, which will give us a strong competitive environment as we prepare for our championship season."

CSUB will open the season at the John S. Hillman Aquatic Center, welcoming Cal Poly, California Baptist, UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara for the CSUB Sprint Invitational and the Roadrunner Invitational on Oct. 15 & 16, respectively.

Bakersfield will host a tri-meet with Fresno Pacific and Pomona-Pitzer on Oct. 22, before heading out on the road for the first time with a trip to Pacific on Nov. 5.

The 'Runners will compete in invitationals at La Verne (Nov. 18-20) and Princeton (Nov. 30-Dec. 3), before competing in dual meets with UC Santa Barbara (Dec. 17), UC San Diego (Jan. 2), Cal Poly (Jan. 7) and Simon Fraser (Jan. 14) to close out the regular season. The CSUB women will also host Fresno State on Jan. 13.

CSUB's post-season run begins with the MPSF Championship Meet on Feb. 15-18, with the 'Runners also scheduled to compete at the National Invitational Championship and in TYR Series events.

The Women's NCAA Championship meet will be hosted in Knoxville, Tenn., from Mar. 15-20, while the Men's National Championship will be held the following week in Minneapolis, Minn. (Mar. 22-25).

The 2022-23 season marks a new era for CSUB Swimming & Diving, as the team must replace long-time women's team standout Autumn D'Arcy and decorated men, Ryan Brimer, Loren Gillilan and Kris Rogic, among others. The quartet combined for 19 All-League Honors over the past five seasons in Bakersfield.

Four-time league champion Mikayla Popham and highly rated underclassmen Danielle Albright and Lorena Jerebic return to lead the CSUB women, while a talented group of underclassmen and newcomers make up a hungry Roadrunner men's side.
