CSUB Basketball Camp a Success, Open Spots Available for July Camp

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – One week of summer basketball camp has already wrapped up for the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball program and the Roadrunners are excitedly awaiting the next group of campers coming to the Icardo Center. This past week, CSUB hosted its first Camp session with dozens of young ballers improving their skills on the blue Valley Strong Court.

"All of our coaches, our team, and the campers had a great time last week," said Brent Wrapp, Bakersfield's Director of Basketball Operations. "We saw improvement each day and we really enjoyed getting to know the boys. This opportunity to interact with current and former players as well as our coaches is one of the highlights of the year for us, and we hope it is great memory for the campers as well."

Attendees at CSUB's men's basketball camps have several unique opportunities: playing on Bakersfield's famous blue court, getting a taste of what it would be like to play Division I basketball, and learning from Head Coach Rod Barnes, a Naismith National Coach of the Year honoree, and his staff.

The `Runners will run it back in two weeks, July 5-8, hosting their second and final camp session of the summer. Wrapp said that spots are still available, so parents should sign up quickly to ensure their young ballers don't miss out on the fun.

Each day of camp goes from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Icardo Center. The camp is open to boys entering Grades K-12 and costs $250 per camper. Lunch is provided daily and campers will also receive a camp t-shirt.

One highlight of CSUB basketball camps is the `Runner Fundamental Station, where campers make huge progress in the basics of basketball from the beginning of camp to the end. Another of the most exciting moments is Championship Friday, when individual and team competitions result in a fun battle to close out the week's festivities with camp bragging rights on the line.
