CSUB Prepares to Celebrate 8 `Runners on Senior Day

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team is preparing to host its final two home matches of the season this weekend. The Roadrunners will welcome the Pacific Tigers for a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 9, while also celebrating eight seniors playing in their last matches at the Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex at the SRC.

"This weekend is a special one," said Cesar Benatti, Bakersfield's Head Coach, "first because we get to play at home again, which has been our safe place, where we've been performing better this season and historically. But also because it will be the last home games for eight of our players."

CSUB's lengthy list of graduating student-athletes features three junior college transfers – Alaina Gendale, Anna Unke, and Caroline Benke – a quartet of four-year `Runners – Ericka Snopko, Seleisa Elisaia, Cameron Solberg, and Milica Vukobrat – as well as Brooke Boiseau, who used her five years in Bakersfield to earn a bachelor's degree and she is completing her master's degree this Spring.

Benatti went on to talk about the impact his senior class has made on CSUB beach volleyball: "These girls have been the backbone of our program for many years and we are very happy that we can recognize them on their Senior Day. We have a great group of seniors this year who have grown the Beach Program and took us to a new level. I could spend hours talking about their qualities. They'll certainly be missed and Saturday we'll play for them."

Bakersfield is preparing to take on the Tigers in a pair of games with first serves scheduled for 10 a.m. (PT) and 12:30 p.m. (PT). The `Runners and Tigers met on the opening weekend of the 2022 season when Bakersfield handed the visiting squad a 5-0 sweep. That match was the first in the all-time series between the pair of programs.
