Eggleston Signs Pro Contract to Play in Chihuahua

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Former CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners guard Jayden Eggleston will get her chance at professional basketball across the Mexican border.

The Vegas-native signed with Dorados located in Chihuahua, Mexico. The club will open its season on Saturday playing in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP).

Eggleston had a career year in her redshirt junior season at CSUB, becoming the 6th `Runner all-time to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds. She led the team in points, rebounds, and free throw percentage averaging 16.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg, and .886 ft%. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work on and off the hardwood.

Jayden Eggleston is now the third former Roadrunner actively playing overseas with Batabe Zempare (2012-16) and Erika Williams (2012-17) currently across the Atlantic Ocean.

Q&A with Jayden Eggleston.

  1. What has your first few days in Mexico been like?
First couple days were a little tough. Arrived a little after midnight last Friday and had practice early the next day, just adjusting to everything, new environment and new culture.

  1. When does the season start?
First game is this Saturday.

  1. Do you see juggling the remaining class assignments while being overseas as a challenge? Is managing school / pro ball like managing school / college athletics?
Getting here during spring break, I kind of forgot I was still in school. Thankful I only have a couple more classes left, then I will be finished up. So, I don't see it as too much of a challenge. I wish I was able to walk for graduation and get my masters, but I have a game that same day. I would say college ball prepared me for managing them both so I will be good!

  1. What are your thoughts on this next step as far as how you want to make your mark on the floor but also navigating in a foreign country (language barriers, etc.)?

"I am not only pleased that she is able to pursue her professional basketball dreams," added McCall, "but confident she will do great things on and off the floor. She has options, graduating with her master's soon, and having career opportunities of either coaching or working for Homeland Security."

"I am very proud of her," said McCall. "Another exciting time in Roadrunners women's basketball. Another `Runner is about to make their professional debut."

, her accomplishments, and his expectations of what she'll do at the next level.EgglestonHead Coach Greg McCall had plenty to say about Jayden

For me the biggest obstacle is probably the language barrier, so just be able to overcome that. But at the same time its basketball and I just have to do what I do best and get buckets. Coach McCall told me to be "extremely confident #10," that has stuck with me and that's exactly what I am going to do.
