CSUB Falls to Utah, Bests IVC in Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team split a pair of matches in Southern California on Saturday. The Roadrunners dropped a narrow, 3-2 decision against the University of Utah before picking up a 3-2 exhibition victory against Irvine Valley College.

"Today we played better, but still with some inconsistencies," said Cesar Benatti, Bakersfield's Head Coach. "We will continue to work on the things we struggled with. We need to be able to play more in system and be able to be comfortable in taking risks to close out games."

CSUB enjoyed two `Runner pairs that went 2-0 on the day. Bakersfield's No. 1 pair of Milica Vukobrat and Cameron Solberg downed Utah's and IVC's duos in straight sets on Saturday. Not to be outdone, the CSUB 3s, Brooke Boiseau and Anna Unke, also won all four sets they contested in Irvine.

The No. 4 pairing of Seleisa Elisaia and Alaina Gendale also picked up a win against IVC, proving to be the difference in another close match.

The `Runners (7-11) will return to Bakersfield and begin preparations for Senior Day at the Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex at the Student Rec Center. CSUB will pay tribute to an astounding eight `Runners playing their final home matches on Saturday, Apr. 9, when Pacific comes to town for a doubleheader.
