D'Arcy Named MPSF Swimmer of the Year

Bakersfield, Calif. – For the second time in her CSU Bakersfield career, Autumn D'Arcy has nabbed conference Swimmer of the Year accolades. The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation announced D'Arcy as the league's top female swimmer, Friday afternoon, following another standout season from the Roadrunner senior.

"Autumn is one of the best athletes in CSUB history," said CSUB Director of Swimming Chris Hansen. "She's now a two-time conference swimmer of the year and that only scratches the surface of how successful her athletic career has been."

D'Arcy capped an exceptional career with a trip to the NCAA Championship meet earlier this month, becoming the first CSUB women's swimmer to reach the national event at the Division I level. She placed 17th in her best event, the 100 Butterfly, while also swimming the 200 Butterfly and the 200 Individual Medley at the Atlanta meet.

In February, D'Arcy was the standout performer at the conference championship meet, winning MPSF titles in the 100 and 200 Butterfly events and adding a runner-up finish in the 200 IM. The Redlands, Calif., native finishes her career with nine conference championships.

"I'm so very appreciative of my time at CSUB," D'Arcy said. "It has been an honor to swim for coaches' who have pushed me and alongside friends who have supported me. I am humbled and thankful to be named MPSF Swimmer of the Year."

She wraps up her Bakersfield career with 65 individual race victories, a program record at the Division I level, and holds school records in the 100 Backstroke (54.21), the 100 Butterfly (51.80), the 200 Butterfly (1:55.84) and the 200 IM (1:59.77).

D'Arcy was also part of school record relay teams in the 200 and 400 Medleys, as well as the 200 Freestyle Relay, and has posted additional CSUB Top-5 swims in the 50 Free and the 100 Free.

She has represented CSUB on the national stage, including trips to the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Trials and a Silver Medal finish in the 100 Butterfly at the 2022 Toyota US Open, earlier this season.

D'Arcy was the 2020 Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year after winning individual league titles in the 100 Butterfly, the 200 Butterfly and the 200 IM, and leading the Roadrunners to a relay championship in the 400 Freestyle event.

D'Arcy boasts a 3.79 GPA and will graduate from CSU Bakersfield this Spring, with plans to pursue a career in elementary education.

"More important than all of her success is the person behind the athletes and how Autumn has grown over four years in Bakersfield," Hansen added. "She is going to be a great teacher and will have as much of an impact on her future students as she had on all of us here at CSUB. We couldn't be prouder of who she is and all she has accomplished."
