`Runner Golfers Prepared for Final Tune-Up

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Returning to action for one last time in the regular season, the CSU Bakersfield women's golf team is headed to St. George, Utah, Mar. 10-12, to play 54 holes at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational.

"We've taken a lot of time to prep for our final regular season event before conference," said CSUB's first-year Head Coach Tiffanie Yabut. "We're staying disciplined and committed to our process and focuses mentally and on the course to continue to give us upward trends in the things that will get us to a good outcome. This is a placement and strategy course so we're focused and ready to compete within ourselves. We're viewing everything as preparation for conference so we're ready to compete and get better this week."

The `Runners will travel over 400 miles to compete in the three-day tournament hosted by Southern Utah University. The host site, Sunbrook Golf Club, is not far from the state line that connects Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. Just south of Snow Canyon State Park, St. George sits at 2,700 feet in elevation while Sunbrook features 27 holes and its unique red sand traps.

CSUB returns to the Thunderbird Invitational for the fifth-consecutive season, joining 16 other teams including Big West Conference foe CSUN. The golfers will play one round per day, atypical for the college golf regular season, but the format makes for a nice tune-up before the Big West Championship next month.

All six `Runners will be taking part in the Thunderbird Invite this week with the same five from the last tournament qualifying for the competitive squad: Aufa Rachmadya, Jefi Dordevic, Kaleigh Irey, Gillian Galicia, and Christy Mae Saban. Yasmin Guerrero will also compete as an individual.

Play is set to begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (PT) each day in St. George. Live stats will be available for fans to follow along via GolfStat.
