`Runners Host UCSD, UCI in Regular-Season Finale

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team conclude Big West Conference regular-season play this weekend with a pair of home games in the Icardo Center.

CSUB will host UC San Diego this Thursday at 7 p.m. (PT), before taking on UC Irvine on Saturday at 1 p.m. Saturday's contest is Senior Day, when four `Runners, Justin Edler-Davis, Justin McCall, Shawn Stith and Grehlon Easter will be acknowledged for their accomplishments and careers.

"The character of this group of seniors is what makes me proud," said Rod Barnes, Head Coach of the `Runners. "They're tested, they're well-rounded human beings, and they're good character guys."

UC San Diego (12-15, 0-0 Big West) come to the Icardo after splitting a pair of games last weekend with Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton, who are both currently tied for first place in the Big West.

CSUB will have their 20th meeting against UCSD this Thursday, with the `Runners having a 17-2 record in the all-time series. Last month, the Tritons handed Bakersfield a loss in San Diego, 83-75.

UC Irvine (14-8, 8-4 Big West) have won eight of their last nine games, also including a split this past weekend with Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton.

Bakersfield played a close game in the last meeting with the Anteaters, falling 57-52. Four `Runners scored in double-figures in that contest, as CSUB hopes to continue that level of production on Saturday.
