D'Arcy Closes NCAA Championships with Second Top-30 Finish

Atlanta, Ga. - CSU Bakersfield senior Autumn D'Arcy smashed another school record and earned her second Top-30 finish of the weekend, closing out her run at the 2022 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in style Saturday morning, at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. D'Arcy's time of 1:55.84 placed her 29th in the morning prelims for the 200 Butterfly, narrowly missing qualification to the evening finals for the second-straight day.

"We couldn't have asked for better representation at the NCAA Championships," said CSUB Director of Swimming Chris Hansen. "Autumn swam two personal best times and redefined a pair of CSUB records, just missing the scoring heats. This has been a tremendous accomplishment for her and an absolutely huge performance for CSUB. She has opened the door for future Roadrunner swimmers to qualify and have success at the national meet!"

On Friday, D'Arcy was 17th in the 100 Butterfly, setting a new Bakersfield standard of 51.80 and missing the finals by just 0.01 seconds. She opened her championship meet on Thursday, with a 76th-place finish in the 200 Individual Medley.

D'Arcy finishes her CSUB career as one of the most decorated swimmers in school history, and certainly in the Division I era. The Redlands, Calif., native boasts a school record 65 individual DI victories and holds school records in the 100 Butterfly, the 200 Butterfly, the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke. She has also led record-setting relay teams in the 200 Medley, 400 Medley and the 200 Freestyle over the past four seasons.

D'Arcy is a nine-time conference champion, was named the 2020 Western Athletic Conference swimmer of the year and this season, became the first CSUB swimmer to ever compete at the NCAA Division I National Championships.

She has also been honored twice as an All-League Academic honoree, missing that mark just once, during the 2020-21 season when CSUB opted out of competition.
