D'Arcy Opens NCAA Championship with 200 IM Swim

Atlanta, Ga. -- CSU Bakersfield senior Autumn D'Arcy clocked a 2:05.50 preliminary swim in the 200 Individual Medley to open the 2022 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, Thursday morning at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech University. D'Arcy will not advance to tonight's event finals and instead shifts her focus to the 100 and 200 Butterfly events, with competition set for Friday and Saturday mornings, respectively.

"The 200 IM is Autumn's weakest event at these championships, but she was able to get into the pool and work through some nerves this morning," said CSUB Director of Swimming Chris Hansen. "The 100 Butterfly is tomorrow. That's the event that qualified her for the NCAA meet and she is ready!"

D'Arcy reset her personal best time in the 100 Butterfly when she swam a 52.13 at the Dixie State Invitational last November. That time earned the Redlands, Calif., native an NCAA B-Cut and was the 27th fastest qualifying time in the country, earning her an invite to the NCAA Championships and the right to also compete in the 200 IM and the 200 Butterfly.

Preliminary swims in the 100 Butterfly begin at 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time, Friday morning. Competition begins in the 200 Butterfly at the same time on Saturday.

D'Arcy is the first Roadrunner women's swimmer to reach the NCAA Division I Championships.
