`Runners to Host Valley Invitational Feb 7-8

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's golf team is just one day away from continuing its Spring season by co-hosting The Valley Invitational this week. Alongside co-host and fellow Big West Conference member Cal Poly, CSUB will be one of 11 teams tackling 54 holes at Bakersfield Country Club, Feb. 7-8.

Just a few days removed from their Spring-opening dual against CSUN, the Roadrunners will return to BCC for the second annual edition of the Invite. CSUB's lineup will remain mostly the same heading into The Valley Invitational with all six `Runners competing on Monday and Tuesday. The only adjustment for Head Coach Tiffanie Yabut's squad is the return of fifth-year senior Kaleigh Irey to the scoring five while Christy Mae Saban will golf as an individual.

The 11-team field includes CSUB and Cal Poly, the latter of which was The Valley Invitational Champion in 2021. Joining the co-hosts will be teams from California Baptist, Cal State Fullerton, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, Northern Arizona, San Francisco, Santa Clara, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and Utah Valley.

Bakersfield Country Club sits in the eastern hills of Bakersfield, Calif. The 18-hole course is set up as a Par 72, 6,000-yard challenge for the competing student-athletes. CSUB and the field will play 36 holes on Monday before closing out the Invite with one final round on Tuesday.
