CSUB Golfers Continue Spring Season in Phoenix

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After a two-week period to practice and prepare for the final stretch of the season, the CSU Bakersfield women's golf team is ready to tackle three rounds at the GCU Invitational, Feb. 28-Mar. 1.

"We've taken this time to reflect and game plan our mental and course strategy for our next event," said Tiffanie Yabut, Head Coach of the `Runners. "In our last two events, we've seen a big deficit in greens hit as a team, which has made it difficult for us to score well. With more greens hit being our main focus, along with mentally committing to owning our response to adversity, we feel confident in our progression going into this next tournament."

CSUB will join 18 other teams for the large tournament held at the GCU Golf Course in Phoenix. Bakersfield will golf against several familiar goes including tournament host GCU, UC Riverside, Seattle U, UTRGV, and Cal State Fullerton.

The `Runners and the field will play 54 holes over two days with a shotgun start kicking off each day of competition at 7 a.m. (PT). The GCU Golf Course sits on the west edge of Phoenix and was recently redesigned to provide a fantastic place for competitive and casual golfers to play.

Yabut will be sending her five-woman squad to tackle the par-72 course. For the second-straight tournament, sophomore Jefi Dordevic is CSUB's top qualifier. Joining Dordevic in Phoenix will be fellow sophomores Aufa Rachmadya and Gillian Galicia, freshman Christy Mae Saban, and senior Kaleigh Irey.

The GCU Invite kicks off Monday morning with 36 holes of golf before wrapping up with one final round on Tuesday. Live stats will be available all week so fans can follow along via GolfStat.
