Cal Poly, Hawai'i on Tap for CSUB in Final Home Games

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's basketball returns to the Icardo Center this week for a pair of final Big West home games taking on Cal Poly Tuesday before welcoming Hawai'i Thursday. The Roadrunners tip-off with both teams at 7 p.m. and will celebrate five players (Vanessa Austin, Andie Easley, Jayden Eggleston, Jasmin Dixon, and Miracle Saxon) on Thursday in a pre-game Senior Night ceremony.

CSUB has four regular season games left before heading to Henderson, Nevada for the conference tournament. The `Runners focus on continuing to build confidence one game at a time and finish with the best possible win-loss-percentage in league.

Bakersfield (3-16, 2-8 Big West) split games played last week against UC Riverside and UC Davis. Vanessa Austin became the 5th `Runner to tally 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds in, 47-56, loss to UCR behind a career-high 24 points. Jayden Eggleston then became the 6th in program history to record 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds in nine-point win over UCD. She continues to lead the team with 15.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game and is second leading scorer in the Big West.

Cal Poly (3-17, 2-9 Big West) is on a three-game losing streak picking up losses at UCSB and against UC Davis and UC Riverside. The Mustangs travel to Bakersfield on Tuesday before hosting UH Saturday afternoon.

CP leads in the all-time series, 7-5. Last time out, the Roadrunners and Cal Poly game was canceled due to COVID-29 protocols. Tuesday's contest marks the first time the two squads will have seen each other in competition since CSUB joined the Big West Conference July 1, 2020.

Hawai'i (13-9, 9-3 Big West) is coming off a huge 10-point win over UC Irvine last weekend and now boasts the best Big West win-loss-percentage. Conference leading scorer Amy Atwell scored a game-high 25 points while Kallin Spiller and Nnenna Orji finished with 15 and nine points, respectively.

Against the Rainbow Wahine, the Roadrunners trail in the all-time series with UH, 6-5. Earlier this year the `Runners saw Hawai'i twice dropping an added non-conference game and the scheduled league contest on the road.

Bakersfield will recognize five players who have either exhausted their eligibility or wish not to use the extra year granted by the NCAA. Fifth-year senior Vanessa Austin, seventh-year senior Andie Easley, redshirt juniors Jayden Eggleston and Jasmin Dixon, and junior Miracle Saxon will each be honored this Thursday ahead of tip-off against Hawai'i.
