Baseball Announces 2022 Promotional Schedule

Special Events, Giveaways, Affordable Pricing Options & More Scheduled for Roadrunner Home Games

BAKERSFIELD – CSU Bakersfield will host 33 home games this season, including highly-anticipated matchups with Kansas State, Utah and Central Valley rival Fresno State. The 2022 home schedule includes several promotional efforts, including discounted tickets, giveaways, celebratory events and upgrades to Hardt Field's gameday atmosphere.

"There's nothing like a game day at Hardt Field," expressed CSUB Head Coach Jeremy Beard.  "Our department has stepped up and created a venue and promotional schedule worthy of our fans here in Kern County. It's going to be a great season of Roadrunner baseball."

Bakersfield's promotional schedule begins on Friday, Feb. 18, with an Opening Day celebration ahead of the season opener versus Oakland University. The event will include special appearances from CSUB spirit squads and the school's Rowdy mascot, along with special concession pricing. Team schedule posters will be available while supplies last.

The Roadrunners welcome the rival Bulldogs to Hardt Field on Tuesday, March 1 for a celebration of the Central Valley. CSUB spirit groups will be on hand again and fans will be treated to a limited edition set of baseball cards featuring former players drafted to major league baseball.

CSUB alumni and all `Runner Baseball alumni will be celebrated on March 26 against Utah Valley. Alumni can RSVP for one free ticket, with additional tickets available at discounted prices through the CSUB ticket office. The game will also serve as Faculty & Staff appreciation day and university employees can take advantage of the same ticketing options.

The following day, Sunday, March 27, will serve as a celebration of professional baseball ahead of Major League Baseball Opening day on March 31. Fans who show up to Hardt Field wearing professional baseball apparel can purchase $3 tickets at the gate.

Cal State Fullerton travels to Bakersfield for a Big West Opening three-game set on April 1-3. Saturday's game with the Titans has been dubbed "Little League Day", with free tickets available to little league baseball and softball players who show up wearing their team's official jersey. Pre-series group sales are also available by contacting the CSUB ticket office. Pre-series RSVPs are encouraged.

Saturday's game with the Titans also represents the first in a series of baseball card giveaways featuring the 2022 Roadrunner Baseball team. Card sets will be distributed ahead of all five home games versus Big West foes this season, with each set including nine CSUB student-athletes or coaches and available until supplies last.

An Apr. 14 contest with visiting Hawai'i will serve as CSUB's annual Golden Game, always one of the best gameday atmospheres of the season. Roadrunner Golden Games are highlighted by required attendance from all student-athletes, with additional incentives available to the entire CSUB student population.

The finale of the Hawai'i series will be played on Apr. 16, the day before the Easter holiday. The `Runners are inviting all fans under 12 years of age to participate in a post-game Easter Egg hunt on the outfield grass.

On Friday, Apr. 22 the baseball team will celebrate The 661 and all things Kern County, with $6.61 tickets available for the series opener against UC San Diego. This low price is available only through online pre-orders on GoRunners.com/Tickets and will not be available on a walk-up basis.

Sunday's contest with Long Beach State (May 15) will serve as a Final Exam study-break for CSUB students. Students are invited to sit back, relax and de-stress ahead of exam week with snacks and refreshment provided.

Finally, the Roadrunners will wrap up the regular season and celebrate Senior Day on May 29 against UC Santa Barbara.

"We worked to put together a competitive schedule," Beard added. "Naturally, our Big West opponents will be a challenge and our non-league schedule wont' be any different. We've recruited and developed top tier players and we wanted to provide them with top tier opponents."

Additionally, season long benefits will be made available to fans for all weekend series.

Friday night meal deals will give fans the opportunity to enjoy dinner at the ballpark with low priced food bundles featuring `Runnerdogs, chips and soft beverages.

Bakersfield's three Tuesday night games will feature 2-for-1 popcorn deals. All on-site concessions and promotional food offerings will be provided by CSUB Campus Dining.

On Saturday's Roadrunner Scholarship Donors who contribute $1,000 or more are invited to attend sponsored pre-game receptions at the new Roadrunner Pavilion, located down the right field line. The pre-game receptions will include meals donated by local vendors and a pre-game coaches' chat with Head Coach Jeremy Beard or a member of the CSUB coaching staff.

The Roadrunner Pavilion is also available for group attendance in an intimate setting close to the action throughout the rest of the season, with a minimum of 15 tickets purchased.
