Bakersfield Prepared to Host 2022 Roadrunner Open

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – With one successful tournament under the squad's belt, the Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team is prepared to host its own annual event on Sunday, the 2022 Roadrunner Open. CSUB will welcome several other schools as well as around 300 wrestlers to the Icardo Center on Nov. 20 for an all-day event filled with wrestling action.

`Runner Notes

Redshirt freshman Jose Landin earned the Menlo Open title at 141 pounds on Nov. 6.
Including Landin's first-place finish, Bakersfield had three of the top four finishers in the 141-pound weight class in Menlo. Tyler Deen finished runner-up while Louie Ramos placed fourth.
Richard Castro-Sandoval (second) and Johnathan Viveros (third) both earned podium placements as well.

Roadrunner Open

The 2022 Roadrunner Open kicks off on Sunday at 9 a.m. (PT) in the Icardo Center.
Around 300 wrestlers are expected to vie for 10 weight class titles. Championship bouts are expected to take place around 5 p.m.
At the 2021 Roadrunner Open, Albert Urias won the 174-pound title while a total of eight `Runners posted Top 4 finishes. All eight of those `Runners have returned to CSUB for the 2022-23 season.
