Bakersfield Cross Country Ready for Big West Championships

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – California State University, Bakersfield women's cross country travel to Riverside, Calif. for the Big West Cross Country Championships this Saturday hosted by the UC Riverside Highlanders. The UCR Ag/Ops Course will determine the 2022 Big West individual and team champions.

The championship begins with the women's 6k race at 8:30 AM followed by the men's 8k race at 9:15 AM. Awards ceremony will be at 10:15 AM.

The Roadrunners are coming off the Bronco Invitational where Helena Valentic landed third in CSUB's Top 10 performance list with a 6k time of 22:21. The Croatian has led the `Runners all season long.

Valentic will be joined by Alicia Muralles, Ysabel Gamon, Neyda Martinez, Amber Sosa, and Ariyana Guzman.

Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Marcia Mansur-Wentworth said "Neyda [Martinez] set a personal best last outing followed closely by Ysabel [Gamon] and Alicia [Muralles]. We hope to improve on the season's performances and continue to build."
