CSUB Announces 2022 Softball Schedule

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The long-awaited return of CSU Bakersfield Softball is swiflty approaching and the Roadrunners excitedly announced their 2022 on Monday. After missing out on two seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CSUB will return to the softball field in a couple weeks for its first official season in the Big West Conference.

Before the `Runners can take their first swing at Big West play, CSUB Head Coach Crissy Buck-Ziegler has put together a challenging non-conference slate to prepare her squad for a grueling league schedule. Bakersfield's 2022 campaign will begin at the Rebel Kickoff, Feb. 11-13, hosted by UNLV. The `Runners are scheduled to square off against the host Rebels, perennial power BYU, and fellow Big West member Hawai'i.

Buck-Ziegler's squad will then return to Bakersfield for its home opener, Feb. 19-20, a three-game series against Pacific at the Roadrunner Softball Complex. Bakersfield's other non-conference home series will feature a doubleheader against North Dakota on Mar. 16 as well as a pair of games against Santa Clara on Mar. 31.

CSUB's other non-conference tournament in 2022 will be a trip to Los Angeles to tackle a tough pair of foes at the annual Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament. On Mar. 11 and 12, the `Runners will face off against host UCLA and Fresno State in a pair of games each. Also on the road, CSUB will visit LMU for a pair of games on Mar. 13.

Starting in mid-March, CSUB will fight its way through a challenging Big West schedule with a league crown on the line. The `Runners will start out on the road against UC San Diego (Mar. 20-21) and will also travel to UC Davis (Apr. 2-3), UC Santa Barbara (Apr. 9-10), Hawai'i (Apr. 22-23), and Long Beach State (May 7-8).

Bakersfield's home Big West series this season will see four teams coming to the Roadrunner Softball Complex: Cal State Fullerton (Mar. 26-27), Cal Poly (Apr. 15-16), CSUN (Apr. 30-May 1), and UC Riverside (May 13-14).
