CSUB Adds Game Against Hawaii, Plays Thursday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's basketball has added a non-conference game at Hawai'i this Thursday (1/20) ahead of their scheduled Big West contest against the Rainbow Wahine on Saturday (1/22). Both games will tip-off at 9 p.m. Pacific Time zone.

Although just one game will count towards the league record both contests are important for CSUB who is 1-8 overall and hasn't played since New Year's Day. The additional matchup cuts the Roadrunners wait time in between games from 21 to 19 days.

Bakersfield closes what should have been a four-game conference road stretch with one countable game on Saturday at UH. The Roadrunners enter this week with an 0-1 league record having dropped their opener, 42-59, at Long Beach State (1/1).

Redshirt junior Jayden Eggleston is the only player currently averaging double figures for the `Runners. She leads the team in scoring (15.3 ppg) and rebounding (5.8 rpg) while shooting near perfect from the free throw line (.936) and averaging 32.7 minutes per game.

Senior Vanessa Austin had a dominant showing in the loss at LBSU matching Eggleston's team-high 14 points in 23 minutes played. Austin also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds in the contest, including five offensive boards. She's third on the squad in scoring (7.2 ppg), behind senior Andie Easley (7.6 ppg), and second in rebounding (5.2 rpg).

Bakersfield took both regular season contests against UH in 2021, but dropped their last encounter, 67-81, in Vegas at the Big West Conference Tournament. The 'Bows are 2-0 all-time on their home floor against CSUB; their last meeting inside SimpliFi Arena was in 2015.
